Does anyone know how long does it take for them to schedule an interview after all the documents are accepted. I am residing in canada and will be attending interview at Montreal consulate. Any one from canada here? IF they can let me know how long do they take to email us the interview date and time after accepting documents.  I wanna plan a trip to visit my husband so if they are taking long time then I can visit for a week or so. Thanks in advance

I am also from Canada, the NVC center approved the documents November 16th and I got the interview date December 17th for January 28.

Hi, once you get your visa and arrived into the U.S it takes as little as 3 weeks before you received a SSN only if you had requested to received one when you had completed your visa application. Remember when you had completed your visa application there was an little check box on if you would like a SSN maild to you at the Adress where you will be staying in the U.S, If you checked off that box or selected yes then you will receive a SSN in 3 weeks after your Visa is approved and you are in the U.S free of charge. IF you have not selected yes to receive a SSN all you have to do is when in the U.S go to your local security office and apply for one and you’ll get it within 4 weeks time.

Also, can you please tell us on here how your interview went and some of the questions they ask you after your interview. My wife interview is in February. I would really appreciate the insight.

Thank you,

I hope I was able to help with answering your question and best of luck with your interview. I pray for you!

Thanks so much! I will have to look at my stuff again the lawyer filled that stuff out. I will post on here for sure! Interview is Monday!

Quick update guys ,my wife visa yesterday was undergoing administrative processing and today status now says issued,so that means she’ll her passport Monday or Tuesday,so happy..!!😌😌

Hi do you mind if I asked why your case was undergoing administrative processing? Was it because of the embassy not receiving the medical results on time? That seems to be the main reason why lots of time, or was it because of missing documents?

Thank you for for your response in advance!

Who knows if I can change my last name to my husband's first name, before filing I-751(removal of condition). His last name doesn't have a good meaning, I don't want it, neither do I want our future kids to have it.

Hey All, I used below link to check my visa status and it showed issued on Friday. Called Aramex immediately but they have not received my passport and package from the US Embassy yet.

I called Aramex on Saturday again which they confirmed they have received my passport but person in charge does not work on weekend. A bit disappointed as I was hoping to fly on Monday. Anyway it is almost end of the process for me and thank you all for your advice and sharing your journey which I have learnt a lot! Praying that your journey will be smooth and you will be with your love ones soon! God bless!

Administrative Processing status applies to those who received approval during interview too. Just a stage for the embassy to process the necessary paperwork such as placing the visa on your passport. So nothing to worry.

And of course if they need more document from you, they will let you know during interview or other ways.

My wife just finished her interview in Stockholm. She is conditionally approved because the birth certificate she provided was not good enough, even though she got it directly from the Danish government. Apparently it needs to have a signature on it. She isn’t sure at this point how to even get that, but she is working on it. Admittedly it is a bit disappointing to not get full approval right away when we were so prepared. I am hoping she can get a signed birth certificate by the end of this week to mail to the embassy. I am also hoping they don’t take too long to process the document after receiving it in the mail.

HI, Anyone have an idea what to do if you find out a mistake on DS 260?. I made a mistake on previous work history address, once your DS 260 is completed and signed you can not make any changes. Does anyone know what can be done to correct the address?  Call NVC

Honestly, if it is just a small mistake i would leave it as is and if they ask at the interview, just explain it.

Basically, we fill out all forms to the best of our knowledge (like the address history when some people moved God knows how many times after the age of 16(!)...😅

I just put my college address by mistake instead of the address of the place I worked before 10 years.  Education history and previous work history is on the same page. So they could wonder how comes its the same address for college and work. It was not even fancy job at that time. I was student and working as store front at that time.  While I was checking filled DS 260, i realized and I was like how did that happen.  So you think its a problem?  and necessary to inform NVC to change address or I can just mention it if they ask me at interview?

Case gets sent to the embassy, then you get the interview appointment. Once you know when it is, schedule the medical at least a week or so before the interview. Some consulates/embassies let you schedule your interview yourself once they received everything from NVC

How will I know when they have sent it or when embassy received it?

Medical has to be done week prior to interview? or it can be done anytime?
