My case was approved 10/19

October 31, 2018 USCIS has sent our case to the state department for consular processing

still no word from the NVC about case number

Give it some time. It takes 3-6 weeks to get case number. Still early for you yet. I got my case number in 4 weeks. Don’t worry you’ll hear from them soon. If you did not have email notifications set up with them I would call them in about 3 weeks from the time

your case was sent over.

I think she can sponsor you using assets or income that will continue after moving back to the States and if that isn’t an option you will need to find a joint sponsor.

Thanks for your response. The problem is that she hasn’t lived in US for 10 years! However she has filed her taxes every year since so I am hoping that would work.

It should work as long as her income is coming from a source that will continue after she is moving back. If she is self employed for example or has income coming from rental properties etc.

Unfortunately this won’t be the case! She is trying to have a job lined up in US before we move there. Would this then work? Or must she move back to the states and live there for a while before I can join her?

I’m not completely sure about this because my husband lives in the US, but from what I read she needs to be working in that job already and show pay stubs or a letter from her employer as proof of current income. But you can just find a joint sponsor that lives in the US and won’t have to worry about that.

she will also have to show that she is planning on re-establishing domicile in the US before you can get your visa. I think things like a valid US drivers license, job offers, rental agreement, school enrollments etc would be okay for that.

you should update your timeline on here, it helps a lot with the stats :) and gives people an idea on how long cases are getting processed each step of the way.

how long did it take some of you to get your documents approved by NVC after submitting everything? and how long did it take for your documents to leave nvc and go to the embassy abroad that your spouse is interviewing at?

We received email/response from NVC 5 days after submitting AOS and Civil Documents. Our AOS and all Civil Documents (except the Foreign Police clerance) got accepted. They asked us to resubmit one document (foreign police clearance). We resubmitted the document on November 5 and we got approved and Documentarily Qualified on November 14.. Now we’re waiting for our interview schedule. :D
