Hi everyone, we just got an email this morning from NVC with the case number. They received our case On September 4. So it took almost 3 weeks to get the case number.

Hello eveyone.

We are on the last process of the visa, just waiting on an interview date.

I have  a question for you guys.

Do we have to get a new passport for my wife because she has her passport valid with her old last name and when I submitted the papers online I submitted her old passport under her last name. Would this be a problem in the visa process? Should we get a new passport for her under my last name or is it fine?

She has changed her name in other supporting documents?? I think if her name is consistent with passport, forms and supporting documents, then there is no need to get a new passport.. 

There is no mandatory requirement to change surname after wedding.. you do know that.. right!!

Thanks for answering. When we applied, our lawyer applied under my last name for her even though I gave him the old passport. She changed her last name And her personal certificate shows her with my last name. My lawyer is telling me she can come her and do some changes on the green card but didnt understand him very well on the phone.

 

edit: nevermind, i see now on the main application, her old last name was used the on matching the passport and on the other names used there they put my last name and her name. I guess i dont have to get a new passport

Based on what I've seen with others, it looks like it takes 1-2 weeks for NVC to get the case from USCIS. After that it looks like 4-8 weeks to be assigned a case number.

Mine is Feb 9 and I thought about calling too. Haven't heard nothing so far. Not even one of these mails about "we're still working on your case...".

Still nothing... PD is Feb 7th

Do you think its time to call or its early?

Ours was approved by USCIS on August 2nd, but still haven’t gotten a notification from USCIS saying the files are being transferred. We sent an email to NVC asking if they’ve received it, they said no. Beginning to worry now...

hey, don't worry.. mine case was approved on may 22, 2018 and they transferred it to NVC on June 06, 2018 and we received letter from NVC on august 03, 2018.. so that's normal processing time.

And.... Still nothing!!! We will probably call USCIS in October if by then we still have no answer... Or email or SOMETHING!!!

Hi Everyone, I am a January 12, 2018 filer who got left behind!  tears streaming.......I do not understand.  On both the January filers and Nebraska Service Center, I am the only one not approved for my husband.  We used an attorney and turned in every single item on the check list.      The attorney said be patient.   I just wanted to join you all for support since no one left in the other blogs.
