Last time I went USC's paid a lot more.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

The pharmacist is obviously racist and should be replaced with somebody bilingual.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

So if lets say for the sake of the argument that most Haitians on TPS are doctors, nurses and teachers which is absolutely false and complete  lie spewed by the left all the time and it does get me mad, its the same done with DACA people like they are all rocket scientists and engineers. They are not , most are not in that position . Show me proof that its the case I couldnt find anything .

You cant just be a doctor and nurse  in Haiti and then work here . Most people including yourself dont know the process and medical licensing exams that have to be done on top of that your university has to be recongized as of same standard and I am not aware of any in Haiti that will get you qualified to take the USMLE. Then you have to do residency all over again. Because that is never recongized in the USA .

But for the sake of the argument the majority is that . It would be terrible for the country of Haiti to loose all the smart and hardworking people . So thats where Trump is exactly right he said now we will have all the TPS people go back to there country now that its over it was always meant to be TEMPORARY and they have probably new skills and knowledge and can now help make there county great again . Build it up and be community leaders.

It would be the compassiont thing to do actually since Haiti’s health care system is not known to be in that great of shape anyway . I am sure they will need all the doctors and nurses they can get

Including myself? I do know, but thanks for playing the assumption game. I have never claimed that DACA recipients are rocket scientists and engineers. However, if they have certainly lived here all their lives , essentially as Americans, they have a very excellent chance of being whatever the heck they want to be in any sector they want to be in, just like everyone else.

It's a shame for any country to lose smart and hardworking people. However their loss is our gain, as it has always been since our ancestors arrived to these shores.

But this is really all about what country and people you think is more superior than another - something that has no place in our Constitution and way of life.

The conversation at the time I was having was to point out there is a large gap between requirements it takes to retire here and what is required to immigrate here. I believe we need to fix this gap in requirements so people aren't forced to live off the US system and struggle not to be able to afford prescriptions/medical appointments as needed. I live in a immigrant neighbor and witnessed this last Friday when a Latino family couldn't pay for their 650 dollar prescription because they didnt have insurance. The mother couldn't speak English well and have the 8 year old son trying to discuss the matter with the pharmacist.  I work in health care and now how much is can cost medical conditions and emergencies can cost. That is strictly my point, which I went on to make further in the conversations.

I have seen this frequently. Mostly with young children trying to help their parents converse when they have limited English skills. This is one of the reasons why my husband's employer works with those kids to have ''English-learning'' family nights. We have to ask ourselves why that is. I've seen a few reasons, surprisingly not having much to do with a stubborn refusal to learn the language - but more to do with access and cost, social stigma, and embarrassment. As a whole Americans don't seem to want to learn other languages in a conversational way, nor do we provide a lot of resources or clear info in assisting those to learn English. I'm not saying of course that there aren't some that do have that stubborn refusal thing (I've seen that a lot in older generations), but even in those that are making an effort to learn, they still are vilified for not having a good grasp of it. I'd really love if that was one aspect of reforms to our system. Getting people to learn. Educating people on subjects of American life before they arrive. I think it would empower immigrants, especially immigrant women in quite a few situations.

From a certain standpoint I feel that having a solid grasp of the language should be a factor in continuing to remain here for some immigrants. But for some that will take time.

There are two medical schools in Haiti that qualify you and allow you to sit for the USMLE.

Vaguely amusing, but worrying anybody would believe it.

There is no point with you , you obviously dont live anywhere near the border otherwise you would know better .

Typical leftie attitude always apologize for the lazy ones and law breakers .

Yes its there fault , no americans dont make fun of people that dont speak the language or speak it poorly I KNOW from experience . They do hate it however if you dont even try .

Dont give me this “we need to increase english language courses give them this give them that” Basically make them get used to the hand out mentality . Everything served to you on a silver plater . You go get a English for dummies book study and watch youtube and netflix with subtitles thats how I learned Italian and English.

Then you go out and speak and not stay in your enclaves where its nice and comfy .

English is extremely easy to learn in general so there is no excuse . Go move to Mexico and see how you can live there 20 years no English . There government forms , social security office , passport applications etc are not written in English and Suhaeli and god knows what .

That's fine, I was just telling you since you said you weren't aware of any schools in Haiti that allow you to sit for the USMLE.

Now you are aware.

There are several more in the Caribbean that a person from Haiti could have gone to that would have also qualified them.

When I went to a citizenship ceremony last year there was a lady getting naturalized and the jusge wanted everyone of the new citizens to say something about there story . Well 50 year old lady after like 30 years in the USA couldnt speak a word of english and had her daughters translate for her . I mean seriously I was so amazed that they let this women pass but USCIS Tucson is known for its extreme easy going attitude at interviews so it doesent suprise me . All the staff are hispanic so probably just had the interview in spanish. At least she will know who her president is.

Even the judge was uncomfortable and at the end said speaking english is one of the principal things of integrating sucessfully in this country .

US Passport holders pay $20. Same as UK passports. Schengen countries are exempt from visa.

Qatar does the same thing for US passport holders without a residency visa.

pretty sure you don't know the whole story about any of your 'i saw a foreigner and they were doing something i didn't like' anecdotes. i feel bad for you cause living in such a judgmental/bitter way has to be exhausting and detrimental to your mental health.

did the judge tell you they were uncomfortable? did it occur to you that the judge might say such things at every citizenship ceremony they do?

the answers don't matter, you do you.

That's fine though. Depending on the age and length of residency USCIS makes exceptions. That lady probably was not interviewed in English, she had an interpreter who translated everything for her. Depending on the age, you're also allowed to take a much easier civics test. Something allowed by law, and that lady took advantage of it.
