While I do feel that people should speak and have some understanding of English, it does not offend me in any way if their grasp of it isn't the best so long as they have made some effort. I was in the North Ga mountains one day. 3 big burly rednecks were walking in front of us. One had on a Tshirt , that said something to the effect of speak English or leave. I forget the exact wording.

 

Our group of 4 wives walking right behind them speaking Tagalog 90 miles a minute.
