My fiance moved two days ago to a house down the street. We had looked in how to change his address which I think is the Change of Address online (( https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do )). I wanted to be doubly sure before doing so, as I don't want to mess anything up since we are very close to recieving our NOA2! I tried to look at some old forum posts regarding this issue but they were back in 2016 and I wasn't sure if anything has changed since then. I was a little confused since the instructions don't mention our particular visa, and was worried I was going to mess up!

Looks like I *DID* get confused, the link I have is in regards to changing the US citizens address, and I've not found any information regarding changing the UK citizens address (the one who will be moving to the States). Most of the information I have read in regards to changing his address says it doesn't need to be done until later but that doesn't seem right to me? I'm dreadfully confused, and the links I am finding on Google are to forum posts as opposed to perhaps a link to the USCIS website which would have solid information.

Honestly I don't think it matters much but the only thing that's important is when he receives Packet 4 in the UK. They usually send a mail to his home address and a email. Changing your (petitioner) address is very important as you will receive the NOA2. If you still have questions you may call +18003755283 and get latest info on how to change your address.

You will get the NOA2 and the confirmation from NVC that the file has gone to London in your mail. He will (or rather won't) get his instruction letter from London in the post. They do not email. They won't send another if it goes to the wrong address. The instructions are a link to online instructions here https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

He won't need that letter because there are work arounds.

  • You already have the link to the instructions.
  • The medical people say he must show  the letter at the exam. They just want to confirm his LNDXXXXXXXXX case number is accurate. A print of his CEAC search status will do.
  • That same status checker will also let you know the case has arrived in London so he can start the process when it says "ready".
  • You can get that new LND case number off your letter from NVC or by calling NVC. That allows you to check CEAC here   https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx
  • He will not need the letter for his interview.
  • Nothing else arrives in the mail from London to the beneficiary at the address from the petition. He sets up where he wants the courier to deliver the visa separately, directly with the courier.
