I'm a bit confused..The "old" USCIS web site (egov.uscis.gov) says they received our case on Feb 6, but the "new" one (my.uscis.gov) shows the date Feb 12.. How come?

How do you see this on the site? I clicked the link for the new site but it says to create a new account if:

  • Access information about your case and you received either a Case Passcode from your attorney or accredited representative or an Account Acceptance Notice from USCIS

Where do I get this passcode info? I don't see anything on the "USCIS Acceptance Confirmation" email I got from them back in February.

Hey guys,

Just thought I’d pop in as a December K1 filers to say hi!

I always thought as a beneficiary from the UK that I couldn’t visit the US. Sat months thinking that and the reality wasn’t that. Took the balls and booked a trip (willing to through £400 up in the air) and went through preclearance in Dublin as I haven’t been to the US for 9 months, plus Dublin Airport is only 2 hours from me as I’m from Northern Ireland. Best and easiest experience.

I’d really recommend pre-clearing in Dublin for anyone going through the K1 process wanting to visit whilst waiting for their NOA2 😊

Best,

Jon 🍀

Hi all,

Just read several pages of posts. Feels good in a way to know I'm not the only one losing my mind over this process! And I agree we probably would have just gotten married if we had known the timeline would be the same, but we did not want to get married then. It just wasn't right. Now I would be ready but alas it's too late. So we wait... and to make it more complicated, my fiance's father has become very ill. And that's all up in the air. He is going to stay with him for 3 weeks and I will fly over for a week as well. But if he gets approved and moves here, and then his father passes...well he will have to leave. And we will need to start over. I am trying hard not to think of that. But I guess that's just life right?

Question--once you get the NOA2, then what is the estimated timeline until they can realistically come, assuming you are on the ball and there are no issues? Is it another three months? As always, trying to plan (even though I recognize that is IMPOSSIBLE).

Your fiance will be able to apply for advanced parole (allows traveling while not a permanent legal resident yet) at the same time you apply for AOS. I'm not sure how long that takes though.  Hopefully everything works out though as the government works on their own time and not ours.

As for how long it takes after NOA2, it's pretty country specific, but maybe my friend @TearsOfBabylon might be able to answer that. She is waiting on her AOS at the moment. Her timeline shows just under 2 months (June 23- Aug 12) for NOA2 to visa in hand. The NVC was a little faster then than now, so add another week or so.

Thanks.  I suppose we could file for advanced parole right away just in case?

So let's say 2.5 months...if NOA2 comes mid-September, we are looking at maybe beginning of December for Visa in hand?!

Oh small world! Yeah, it’s been great.

Not going to rock the boat for another visit as December approvals should be increasing and fully starting in next week or two. But in general it’s a good call for any EU or Non-EU citizen worrying about any potential issues. Months I fretted over it. Glad I visited though. Roll on approvals, eh!

I've visited twice since submitting our application and had no issues- we have a friends wedding at the end of August which id love to be able to go to, but am a bit worried (an optimistic maybe) about hearing something that month maybe before I go. Do you know if visiting is more complicated if you do try to visit after receiving application approval (obviously before any embassy interview etc)? i cant see why this would be an issue but haven't read any experiences/advise on this

Every couples situation and county can be unique. I've seen people who stay on top of each step be in the US 30 days after NOA2, but I think for most people 2-3 months is a good estimate, depending on how safe you want to play planning the flights.

For example, some people want to book flights ahead of time, but don't want to wait until the visa is in had. What happens if it gets Administrative Processing? What if for whatever reason it takes longer to be delivered? Etc... Other people are perfectly fine booking flights for the next day once they have the visa, so it all depends on your situation.

For us, we just got NOA2 on Thursday, and we're planning for a late August POE at the moment (subject to  change)

Hmm, I’m not 100% sure. My understanding (though limited) is that they can view this info if they looked deep enough?? I guess I’ve never actually read if someone has done this. I did see someone be notified about an approval (little to their knowledge once passing the Canadian border). It’s fairly possible. However, you never know with USCIS as waiting times may grow a little. The best man to ask has just replied above (haven’t read his feedback but he’d know more for sure) 😊

It's a real possibility. USCIS seems to be the most unpredictable variable. That isn't to say there aren't delays after NOA2. It just seems the Department of State has their sh together more consistently than the Department of Homeland Security.

I guess we can start collecting evidence of meetups in person make a file. Chat logs, birth certificate, thats pretty much could be done. I'll start doing it close to the time though. Coz god forbid if it gets delayed after all the preperation i'll panic more.

I just got my police certificate. I'm sure it depends on where you live, but the processing took two weeks here in Japan.
