Hello i’d just like to ask because im new here and im really confused with all the terms and stuff. I hope someone can help me with this i’d really appreciate it.

So my bf is from michigan. My first question is,

1. does he have to mail the i-129f packet all the way to dallas or he can drop it off at USCIS detroit office?

2. If he mails it, does he have to include the actual check (535$) inside the packet, or can he pay thru the bank?

3. When should we pay the 535$?

Thank you so much.

When you mail it off it will get filed and you will get a noa 1 notice of action with the service center that it went to and yes you mail the check along with a cover page listing all that’s in the application packet included the check . If you guys are doing it yourself make sure you go online and look at how to put the packet together and review it over before sending to make sure everything is done correctly

Welcome fellow michigander.

Yes he has to mail to Texas service center. It then gets sent to California service center.

Send payment with packet. If no payment is sent the case will be denied right then and there.

Best way is to send it certified mail so u get a notice of when it's recieved.

Thank you so much!

@Naes could you, please, do the same type of graph but also include January and February when you have a chance just so we all have an idea of how many applications were submitted in those two months... THANK YOU!

Well I am trying to do that however that means going through about 120000 cases to figure out the numbers so it will take a little bit more...

Hi everybody.

Ive just been thinking, i was on a F1 student visa i know that to get a driving license i had to show my I-20 so that they could put on a End date on the  drivers license so it expired the same time my stay did. How do i go about getting a license once i enter on my K1 visa? I cant imagine i would have to wait till I've applied for my green card, right?

I have the same situation and I would really appreciate if someone could answer this question!

All driver's license issues vary by state as state law dictates the requirements for obtaining a driver's license. Some states, like mine, have different types of licenses depending on legal status, such as a Driver's Privilege Card which doesn't count as a form of legal identification, except for driving purposes, for those that can't establish legal status. Information can generally be found on your specific state's Department of Public Safety or equivalent agency website. The easiest way to track it down would be to search "how to obtain a (state) driver's license."

Good thing.....keep it positive and soon you guys will be together. Not sure where you are from Brazil but since I came from the same place and have done all you will eventually need to do, I would encourage you to look my timeline. That can help you with your process.

Thank you!!! My fiancé will be coming from there and will be going through Rio. He's originally from Ghana but lives in Brazil now. So hopefully it will go smoothly for us through the Brazilian embassy even though he is from a high-fraud country. For now we just try to be patient in the waiting.

My timeline got pushed back one day. I know it doesnt matter much, but still nice to see :)

Mine still says aug 3rd to 5th. But, depending on which site I use old or new. My received date is 7 days different.

IN REGARDS TO WHICH DATE TO USE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

noa1 date is actually they date on ur hard copy. Sadly if u reach the magical 220 day u must wait till 225 to contact Uscis. They use what the new site says. Even if ur paper says X date.

They added 5 days onto everyone’s accepted on NOA1
