I sent out my packet on February 17, 2018.

I've heard nothing so far on receiving packet.

I am getting so nervous that I made a mistake.

Welcome!

Did you send the package with a tracking number?

If you paid by check, watch your bank account to see if it has cleared.

Also remember that Monday was a US federal holiday, so nothing happened that day (Government & banks all closed).

Hello, nothing to worry about :) its taking 7 days on average to get NOA1 for Feb filers - so you're well within the range - just monitor your bank account and see if they withdrew the filing fees, that will be a good indicator that your package was accepted. Did you submit G-1145 form for electronic notification?

I sent mine on the 16th and paid extra to overnight it.  Tracking # says it was delivered on the 19th.  So I'm in the same boat as you.  Hoping to get NOA1 tomorrow but averages indicate it may not be till at least sometime next week.

Hi & Welcome!

Glad to have you join us : )

We used a local, Russian speaking immigration specialist attorney (my fiancee is Ukrainian & speaks Russian).  I hired the attorney before I did a lot of research & understood the process.

In retrospect, it absolutely wasn't *necessary* to have an attorney, but having her on our side provides a little peace of mind "just in case".  Also, she is able to provide translations of my fiancee's documents as part of her fee.

I'll add that we did 99.5% of the work on our petition.  I also caught a few omissions on the work the attorney did as we reviewed everything a dozen times.

Bottom line is that nobody cares as much as your success in obtaining this visa as you & you fiancee do.

For the attorney, it's just a job.

For you, it's your life.

We did ours without a lawyer! (We're January filers but I like to check all the threads).

I'm expecting an RFE though because I didn't put a photocopy of the passport stamps in the packet we sent.

Hi Everyone,

I am about to file mine soon. Could anyone help me or tell me how they assembled their packet? Also, how did you guys answer question 54?

Thank you

Hi,

I'm not an expert but personally this visa journey website helped me a lot. However, always use the USCIS official K1 visa page for the most reliable and up to date information, especially for the filing fee/where to file it to.

Here is a link to the Visa Journey's K1 Fiancé visa step-by-step guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide

At the top of this page, it also offers a link to an overview of the entire K1 process. Like I mentioned above, use the USCIS website for official instructions on how to file.

Q54...do you mean where it asks to describe the circumstances of how we met? For ours, we used only the provided lines and kept it short. Stated when we met, that we lived together, then visited each other's homes and then finally, why we had to go back to our home countries. We didn't extend it further. Not sure if this was the right way to answer that but that's what we did. Hope this helps.
