DANGEROUS WATERS: ANY OPTION?

Background: So my in-laws had already filed to bring a sibling over to US( 10+ years going right now, according to the information I was given). Fast forward, the sibling's life is in danger by an outlawed gang. She owns some businesses and has been forced to close two already because of constant threat by the gang in her country. She has to constantly pay protection fees and such to the gang. 

 

Questions: Can the petitioner, being a US citizen, do anything to expedite the case? Can she make an infopass at the local field office to check on the status of this case and talk over this new development with an immigration officer?

If she went, the question would probably be asked: 

If she can move to the US to avoid this gang, why can she not move to another area in her country to do the same?

She owns known businesses. With that, I tend to think that wherever she moves within the country, the gang will likely know. It's MS-13 we're talking about. They're well connected, I presume.

I'm sorry she's going through that, I'm sure it is very scary for herself and her family.

Not to be insensitive to the subject, but won't she close those businesses anyway?  So could she do that and find another job in a different area?

 

I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to suggest other ideas for safety.

No offense taken. 

I think it's her way of earning a living. So it'll be a little bit hard for her to close them  and be unproductive. It'll be better if she can sell/close them and move to a safer place where she can continue. However, if she just sells them and stays wherever she is, the gang will still come for the money, and pretty much she'll be poor in a short time, not because she wanted to be, but because of the circumstances. It's saddening that she cannot prosper in peace.

 

And yes, she'll have to close/sell when moving. However, it's better to sell and enjoy your sweat in peace than sell and have to dish it out to a gang.

my guess is that you are looking at 25 years if recently filed so nothing US wise will be happening very soon .

That's sad. I don't think she'll be having anything left by then as she has lost two businesses already.

No doubt she has options, and she is in the best position to decide what the best one is.

Considering ms-13 started in LA not sure the US is necessarily safer for her if the gang decide to make an example of her for moving away. 

 

Europe might be safer for the relative.

Other country options is what I think is best. That's why they first wanted to know about the immigration application that is now running 10+ years.
