Allllrighty...so based on what I have seen on other threads, us Chicago filers seem to be in it for the long haul. One of the threads said August 2017 are just now taking their oath.

Anyways, congratulations to everyone getting interviews! Can't say I'm not jealous!

Well it's been over two weeks since the Cincinnati local office received my letter (certified delivery) requesting an interview re-schedule and I've received no reply. Looks like they've just shoved the letter in my file and only intend to deal with it when I fail to attend ...just like they did here with @dioxide45 :

I've booked an Mis-Infopass appointment for Monday to find out whats going on. So frustrating!

Hello Folks - Need some guidance from you all and hope you will share some of your insights.

Some information on me - applied online N400 on Feb 28 2018 and did biometrics on 3/8/2018 at queens, NY.

I have to travel overseas from 9/14 to 9/29 and my worry is that my interview might get scheduled during this time! Although I have not purchased the tickets but it should be done in the next 1-2 weeks.

Questions for you

1.based on the data or otherwise - what is the likelihood of my interview to be before, during or after the 9/14 to 9/29 period?

2. Has anyone missed their interview and had to reschedule? How difficult was that? Outcome?

3. Some people in New York area are getting interviews in 2 months from application date  but most have to wait 6+ months. Is there an algorithm that USCIS follows that we know of?

thanks in advance for your guidance.

Regards,

Psg

That page is for Green card. That is exactly what I had to submit when I got my greencard. They have it already. They claim i need to have a certificate with my name on it.

Yes they did give me an RFE requesting a certified copy of birth certificate.

OK, let me unpack this a bit.

1) Did you supply a notarized affidavit as indicated with your N400 application, or just with your I-485? Don't assume the officer has reviewed any evidence not supplied with your N-400, even if you had supplied it with an earlier application.

2) Does the RFE specifically request a notarized copy of a birth certificate listing your name, or simply a certified copy of your birth certificate? Could be they are looking for the latter.

Also, for what it's worth, at this point I personally would not rely on Google or forums and would instead look for an immigration attorney who has experience working with no name birth certificates.

Good luck either way.

1. I only supplied the affidavit during I-485. for n400 there was no requirement (that i have read) asking me to submit affidavit / birth certificate. Officer did pull my certificate and affidavit from my i-485 file.

2. This is what the RFE request. The IO said either a certificate with my name or same authority issuing a letter saying such document doesnt exist.

Submit a certified copy of your birth certificate.

Thanks for all the input folks. I am baffled and trying to arrange the documents that I can find.

Gotcha, thanks for the details. It looks like you started a thread for this and the consensus so far is to try to get the document fixed back in India - good luck!

Regards,

Psg

I'm in the exact same situation as you - applied on Feb 26 and need to travel internationally mid September. My travel plans are not flexible, so if I get the interview right before then (which I worry will put me in that period of "no longer LPR so don't gave GC, but don't have a passport yet either), I'll just postpone the interview. They should give you a month's notice anyway.

@flash9153 Geez i hope not, i have been waiting a mighty long time. Hoping that some how Chicago speeds up! Where did you see that Chicago is only working on August 2017 Oath Takers?

I am kinda regretting filing the N400 with a pending I-751. Hoping for a Miracle lol

I concur with @flash9153 , looking at the other threads there's practically no action for Chicago Filers beyond Aug2017 and several in the dedicated Chicago thread have July2017 filers saying they're only getting dates now.

Looking at the prior to Aug2017 seems there's a 6-8 month wait between Finger Prints and Interview Dates (esp. as they seem to have dropped the "In line" queue)  so I'm not anticipating anything until July/Aug

I made an online enquiry through my account portal regarding the current status of my n400 petition. An immigration officer got back with the below reply. Any thoughts on it? Does this also mean that the background check was completed too.

Thanks and your thoughts guys!!

I looked here:

I think we made the right decision to file n400 with a pending i751, as that is still the fastest possible path to becoming a citizen. My wife wishes to file an i130 for her parents as soon as she becomes a citizen, so waiting for i751 to complete and then filing the n400 would have taken an equal amount of time or longer. If your goal was to get your 10 yr GC for travel purpose without having to get an infopass every six months, then waiting would've been a better option.

5/1/2014: I-130 Sent (Nebraska Service Center)

5/23/2015: US Entry :jest:

3/1/2017: Filed i-751 (California Service Center,  transferred to National Benefits Center on 3/13/2018)

2/23/2018: Filed N-400 online at Chicago, IL
10/03/2018: i751-N400  combo interview successful

11/05/2018: Completed Oath Ceremony, Certificate of Naturalization in hand! :jest:

some people have theorized that 3 year applicants (spouses of USCs) are getting earlier notices than the "expected case completion time" posted on myuscis. Has not been confirmed or denied by any govt officials...

1. This is just based on what I read and by no means am I saying this will be definitely the case for you but I looked at some timelines on this site for New York City field office and 3 filings in Jan and Feb have reported getting their interview scheduled 3 months after filing. If you base it only on that, there’s a possibility you may be done with the whole process before your travels in September. But you and no one on here can know for sure if that will be the case. In reality it depends on if your security checks are done, the number of applicants and how fast the office is moving.

2. Again just based on posts I’ve read, people’s experiences on rescheduling have varied, some people get rescheduled almost right away and have to only wait a month while others have had to wait several months.

3. It depends on the local field office because they’re the ones who do the scheduling for the interview appointments.  You can’t compare the offices to each other. As far as how they schedule in a particular office, in theory it should be in order based on filing date as long as the application is good and security checks are cleared. Sometimes it does appear to go out of order and seems random but who knows why that is.

I can easily prove that theory wrong.  I’ve never been married and my interview is scheduled way before my estimated completion time.
