That's basically what I did, and it worked! I actually had everything filled in for ages before I hit "submit" at the end - I was hoping my I-751 would be approved, but eventually ran out of patience, and filed N-400.

You can save your progress (in fact, it does it more or less automatically, as long as you complete a "page" and hit next) You can also go back and edit almost anything without having to start over.

Make sure you sign in at least once a month, or your data will be wiped.

Thanks a lot. I will start it right away.

Hi All,

Walked in 11 days early for my Biometrics. I was very surprised how fast it went, in and out in 10 mins if that.

Hi, Norridge lockbox is allowing this early walk-in? Do they just allow or require the reason for walk-in 11 days early? I mean, any specific reason if given or they would just say okay we will take your biometrics?
Can you also please give me an idea , how much wait time is now being shown for your case? 4 , 5 , 6 months?

Snap. I think it's a few days. I'm hoping to schedule an Infopass for an !-551 stamp at the same time.

Don't doi it! All the evidence is that paper filing is much slower. What problems are you having?

If you look at some of the other months progress reports you’ll see that online filing definitely get the notice of receipt and biometrics appointment way faster like a couple weeks faster than paper. Which means your file will get sent to your local field office sooner. Obviously every case is different and field office have different processing times so you can’t see a definitive pattern. But I know I’ve been snooping around other months progress reports and there are at least 4 January filers who filed online who already have an interview date. Plus it’s also faster to send additional evidence in by scanning rather than mailing. And also when you file online, you get pdf files of every notice they send you so you can see appointment dates earlier so you can take off work or try a walk-in for biometrics earlier. I would also highly recommend filing online if you can. Just look at other months progress reports and you’ll see the difference.

Hi @sw88,

Yes, I walked in around 12:30pm yesterday and their was barely anyone in there. I approached the security guard and started to tell him i was going to be out of town the actual date of my appointment and he looked at me and laughed and asked if that was all, he then took my appointment letter stamped it and waived me through to be finger printed.

Seems very relaxed at the Norridge Office, i was in and out in less than 10 mins. I think you should give it a shot. The most they can say is no lol, at least that was my mindset going in.

Hope this helps.

It just depends.  Remember - that "date" is the date of the OLDEST case they are working on.  There might be cases newer than that that have gone through the process.

What Sukie said above. But also remember, the process can take as little or as long as it needs to take. It all depends on individual case. There have been a few people on here reporting to be stuck in the background check phase for months if not years. But on the other side of things there are people here who have completed the process in 3 months (I’ve only seen this for online filers) when their field office processing times have said a year. There is no way of predicting, just gotta file and be patient. We just recommended doing it online because the paperwork transfer part of the process is a lot faster than physical mail.

Not sure about your office but for San Francisco currently April 2017 paper filers are getting interviewed at the same time as the August 2017 online filers. Plus an online filer asked about the discrepancy and was told that days are being reserved for online filers  only so they are getting through them quicker.
