My interview will be tomorrow, and I'll let you know. But I don't think the officer would ask you about the definition of words, you just need to make sure that you understand all the questions in your way, then choose to answer if Yes or No.

Good luck for ur interview tomorrow 👍 and please do let me know ur experience  , also want to know which state and city u file from? And it's based on on 3years or 5years  base also please share complete detail for ur interview

I had my N400 interview this morning at 9am in Los Angeles, CA. As I still have a I-751 pending,  and most likely this was going to be a combined interview, I brought my wife and additional proof of ongoing relationship. We arrived at the building in downtown LA approx 40 min. prior the scheduled interview time. Security was inefficient but very organized. It took about 15 minutes to go through security. They did not ask for ID or an appointment letter. We went up to the 8th floor and handed my appointment letter to a security officer, who placed it in a tray and asked us to take place in the waiting area. After about 5 minutes he called my name and told us we had to move to a different waiting area. Here we waited for maybe 30 minutes until my name was called. Me and my wife walked to door no. 2 and immediately the officer asked my wife 'Who are you?'. I told her I brought my wife, we were advised that she was not allowed at the interview. The officer told me she is hearing impaired and that's why there was a translator in the room who sad behind me during the whole interview. The officer asked for my passport, green card, and CA ID. I gave my passport, an expired CA ID (I lost my drivers license 10 days prior the interview) and I told the officer I don't have a green card as they took it when I got an I-551 stamp back in April (my I751 is pending for 19 months now). The officer went through all the yes and no questions from the N400 application. The officer had an issue with reading the questions out loud and it was sometimes very hard to understand what she was saying, but I was well prepared and new all the questions we had to go through. I didn't mind too much the officer had a disability but for some people who are insecure/nervous/broken English this could be very disturbing. I don't think she should be conducting interviews. During the civics test the officer asked me 'how many citizens does the US have', she ment to ask 'senators' and corrected herself. Her reading skills in general were very poor. I passed the civics test 6/6. At the end of the interview she asked me to sign a form that said that I lost my green card, which is not the case. When I explained to her that they took my card when I got a I551 stamp she all of a sudden realized that I had an I751 pending eventhough I told her that at the beginning of the interview. She told me she is not qualified to do I751 interviews and she went to talk with a supervisor I guess. She came back to tell me I passed the test but could not recommend me for approval due to the pending I751. She told me no one was available today to do the I751 part and i have to wait for an appointment letter, no time frame was given. I asked to talk with a supervisor as the officer had been very unprofessional throughout the interview and I wanted to double check her statements. The supervisor confirmed that I had to wait to get rescheduled. When I asked why it wasn't a combined interview she told my 'that they typically dont combine interviews' and that the 19 months my case has been pending is normal.

Very frustrating morning all together. Sorry for my rant and grammar/spelling errors, it was written on my phone.

Did the officer mention during the interview that would make any changes to the form based on your answers? I passed the test and was recommended for approval as well but officer said that would make some changes in regards to my trips.I got the notification on the same day that my case was 'under review'. That took 3 long months until I receive the notification(last Friday) that I was placed in line for oath ceremony. I hope is not the case.

yes i had a trip outside the USA for 4 days and changed my employer. these are the two changes he made. he also asked me if i was pulled over by any law enforcement officers. i told him him i was stopped by police for speeding few years ago. he said i passed the interview and should expect a oath date in the next 30-45 days. dont know what to make of all of this

I want to know is ur interview officer asked you diffcult questions like what is communist , totalitarian , advocated the overthrow , prosecuted or some like that? As am getting ready for my interview in few days also am eligible for based on 5 years  on the day of interview is possible officer given obtion to change category  of 5 years base ? Because i have only few days left out of 5yeras of my GC (means we can apply 90days before 5 years so mines only about 60days left out of 5 years )

They'll ask you questions from the 100 listed on the Civics exams some are really easy but there are few nasty ones on there (There are 435 Representatives, The Constitution was signed in 1787)

The rest of the interview is largely yes/No based upon the answers in your initial N400

Thank you for asking. My interview was in Santa Ana and it was good, I've been recommended for approval but still no updates online. I'll write my interview experience as soon as I get back from work today.

Update on my wife's interview on 10/03 at the Chicago office.

Our officer was probably the nicest gentleman there. When he called my wife's #, I accompanied her to the door to ask if I'm needed for a combo interview, and he kindly said, "yes please, you can join her".

I-751

After going in, the officer took my wife's biometrics and then she was sworn in to tell the truth. The first thing he did was explain to us that he ROC was pending, therefore he will first interview her on that application. He started by collecting all the documents that we had brought for verification of identity, which included  expired GC, both our passports, driver's licenses and social security card. After verifying our identities, he collected evidence for continuing relationship. We provided tax returns for three years, recent bank statements, copy of lease agreement, health and car insurance documents with both our names. I didn't have any utility bills with both our names, but he was content with rest of the evidence. Then he went through the entire application line by line including all the dates, addresses, yes or no questions, etc. He was incredibly thorough and didn't skip over anything. After that, he said that the i751 application looks good, he doesn't have any reservations approving it. However he said that he is new at doing combo interviews, so it'll take a few days before he can have the application adjudicated. I'll take that as a win in my book, waiting a few days is acceptable than having to wait months for NBC to adjudicate the i751.

N400

After that, he returned my passport and driving license but held on to my wife's. Once again, my wife had her left index finger scanned, and swore to tell the truth. At this point, I thought I was going to have to leave, but he didn't say anything. He already had all the evidence he needed from i751 application, so he didn't ask for it again. Also, all of my wife's evidence was  submitted online, so he had it on his screen for review. He started with the civics exam, then reading, lastly the written portion. She passed all three, so the officer congratulated her. After that, he went through the application line by line. He actually found a couple of minor errors, which he corrected and then asked my wife to review the corrections and then sign off on them through a mounted iPad. After that he printed a piece of paper that says she passed the exam but a decision cannot yet be made. To that he explained, he needs to adjudicate the i751 first, which will take a few days, and then he'll process the N400 to put her in queue for an oath. WE WERE ECSTATIC! Couldn't believe our ears. This crazy journey might actually be coming to an end very soon. I'll keep posted when I see an updates on My USCIS account, or receive something in mail.

I'll keep posted when I see an updates on My USCIS account, or receive something in mail.

congratulations and good luck and pray for the one who is in line .
