I thought I give some details about my ceremony experience. I’m on my phone so I’m sorry for the spelling and grammar.

it was done in the public square in front of the court house. They were celebrating October fest so the stage had a huge bud light sing  behind us. There were food booths and rides. It was cloudy and it drizzled from time to time, at one point the sun came out. They were very prepared and quickly put up canopies to cover our family and friends

We all had to make a line to surrender our green card and fill in the back of the oath notice.  The lady told me to be sure to take a seat a quarter till. We had number sits in alphabetical sequence.  23 countries and 72 people but 3 seats were empty so I assume we were 3 short.

The actual ceremony consisted of the judge telling a little about her family. A local choirs sang the national anthem and another song. ROTC cadets presented the flags. No trump video for us which I was happy about. That’s just my personal option tho.

We took the oath and said the pledge of allegiance. We all got a chance to tell our story. Everyone just thanked family and friends for the most part. A couple of people actually went into detail about their professions.

Afterwards we all got called one by one to get our certificate and take a photo with the judge. It was in reverse alphabetical order so I was one of the last ones.

the county and the local groups were very generous. They said we would all get a copy of the ceremony video, we got two tickets for the st.louis cardinals game that night and two shirts.

Glad is over, i still have to wait for the court decree because I change my before I can do all the paper work.

Wow yours was a lot nicer than the Chicago one, they were processing about 131 people.

So we were told to be in the Federal Building Floor #3 by 9am, it's the same foyer  you go to for your interviews where there are 3 banks of chairs, those waiting for interviews take the left and right bank, those attending the Oath Ceremony take the centre bank

At about 8:30am a couple of very officious administrators start to go through those sitting in the centre bank, getting family and friends to leave the bank to go ans sit in the other two banks. They also didn't want any spaces (lots created by the turfing out of those not swearing the oath). So we were all made to move forward and fill in the empty spaces.

Late arrivals were added to the back, they then went through making sure everyone had completed their forms and had their green cards

You were also advised to make use of the toilets as you would not be allowed to leave once the ceremony started, so don't drink too much beforehand

At about 9:30 we were then taken out row by row and led to an auditorium, before going into the row they'd take our forms and Green Cards off us and we were then led into the auditorium where we had to sit down one by one, not breaking the order that we'd gone into the room. Our Citizen Packs were in envelopes on the seats

Once we were all seated, family and friends were let into the auditorium, they were to sit on the left hand side of the room, and had to sit down in the chairs one by one, so you weren't allowed to choose where you wanted to sit, you sit wherever the next available chair was and if they  attempted to sit elsewhere they were firmly told to take the next seat

Once everyone was sat the ceremony started with a short film showing pictures or immigrants throughout the years, I do admit it was a little bit moving

We then had a brief talk from an official from Citizen Services, I presume she was a judge though she never identified herself as such

Then they played the National Anthem (on a film), then a brief video from President Trump, which I thought was a little racisty (damn should have applied when Obama was President). Then another film showing picturesque scenes across the US while a recording of "America the Beautiful" played (poorly)

Then came the Oath Ceremony, then we were all led out row by row to get our Certificates & shake hands with the Official, when it finally made sense why they insisted we stay in our correct positions as they'd sorted the certificates based upon the greencards handed in

We all applauded ourselves and it was all over, went outside and registered to vote. Some enterprising people went straight downstairs to apply for passports

A little bit of a let-down after waiting so many years

Good Morning!

Thought of sharing my interview experience at Philadelphia USCIS Office on Sep 26th, 2018

My appointment was scheduled for 2 pm. I reached an hour early and after passing thru security , was placed in front of Door 1( Philly has three such doors with many small cubicles  in it)for interview.  I kept noticing that most officers that  kept coming and going out of Door 1 didn't look friendly and gave this serious stare which drained your confidence away. :)  Fortunately, a lady with a sweet smile walks out Door 1 and calls my name- Ah! Made my day. We greeted each other ( i never saw her around while i was waiting all this time-maybe an angel itself!). She walked me to her cubicle, sworn me in and i was seated. She was very friendly and teased about how Indian parents push their children to have kids right after marriage(True!). :) .  Next, she asked 6 questions

1) Who is the Vice President

2) Who were taken as slaves and brought to US

3)What is an amendment

4)Who vetoes bills

5)Who did US fight in World War II

6) What is the supreme law of the land

Got all six right !

Reading portion- " Who can vote"

Writing portion- "Citizens can only vote"

That's it!

Next, she went thru my application and asked questions about my marriage, my work, new travels and job changes since filings. She asked me to hand over the copy my 2018 tax return transcript which i did carry with me. At the end, she recommended my application for approval :) . Not over guys- That's when i broke the big request to her about my upcoming travel on Oct 19th ( just few weeks away )and humbly requested if she was able to schedule me for oath before the travel date( too much and too quick to ask for).  Philly has ceremonies on Mondays and Fridays every week. I will be travelling on a Friday and returning the following Monday. So it was certain i would miss two chances if i got scheduled and i already knew it was impossible for her to schedule it that soon.  Anyway- this amazing officer made a note on my application and told she would try her best to get me date after consulting with her supervisor. She said- "NO GUARANTEE! NO HOPES!"

Today morning i got this notification - AH!!! Oath Ceremony Notice Mailed!!! That was super quick! I wish i could thank her in person!

I wish everyone best of luck! I wish everyone encounter an amazing experience!

Congratulation, and good luck with your ceremony.

My question is how did you get your 2018 Tax Return? You must mean 2017.

Somia,

The officer didn't ask any such questions. She did ask me to answer Yes or No to all those questions that we have at the end of the N400 application form.

My interview will be tomorrow, and I'll let you know. But I don't think the officer would ask you about the definition of words, you just need to make sure that you understand all the questions in your way, then choose to answer if Yes or No.
