So now it appears that those of us still waiting on ROC through CSC, and have submitted our N-400, our cases are being transferred to our field offices. Movement on that must mean movement on the N-400, right? I am cautiously optimistic here..... Could it be soon??

I checked my account on the ROC for giggles and St. Paul received my case on February 26...or so they say. Man, it's like waiting for the birth of a baby!:o:whistle:

Here's a new one on me!

Yesterday, I helped a British friend fill out his N-400 online.  He's been here in the US long enough that he has a "permanent" green card.  It doesn't expire.  In fact, at the time he entered (1984), LPR pictures were taken at an angle - the rule being you had to "show one ear"!!!

I had one minor heart attack when it came to the Selective Service question.  The question asks (if you are male) if you were in the US between your 18th and 26th birthday.  His answer was "yes".  I asked him if he had registered for the Selective Service.  He said no - he did not KNOW he had to register.  So we clicked on the link for the Selective Service to see what he had to do.

Well.  He was born in August, 1959.  There is a paragraph saying that if you were born before December xx, 1959, you did not have to register, as the software system wasn't in place.

So I had him cut and paste that paragraph from the Selective Service site, and put it in the explanation box for why he did register.  But then I told him to make sure he didn't need to have an official letter from the Selective Service.  I also told him to print out a copy of the web page that clearly states that he did not have to register and take it with him to the interview.

He's not on Visa Journey, but I'm keeping track of him.  He filed on February 27th.  Honestly, I am so glad he let me help him fill out the form.  He has been putting it off for years - and I know he would have just given up several times - but luckily, I was able to answer his questions quickly!

Here's wishing good luck to ALL of us February filers!

@Sukie

I recently became a citizen and was scared also as I was filling the n400 out, but found out the following:

- If he did not have his green card between 18 & 26 (or an immigration visa), then he did not need to register (this was my case, I was living between 18 & 26 in the US but had various non-immigrant visas, so apparently I did not have the duty to register)

- Also, as long as the applicant it 31 or older,  it is not an issue either (see "USCIS officers:" paragraph https://www.sss.gov/Registration/Status-Information-Letter)

Good morning

However I am just wondering if the waiting time is accurate or due to a glitch. Indeed it state that everything should be completed by August 2019 so basically in 18 months !

I am in Salt Lake City UT and based on the USCIS website they are currently reviewing the N-400 from January 24, 2017.

Did anyone else who filled online got extra time for the processing or is this estimate not accurate at all?

Thank you for your input

Did anyone else who filled online got extra time for the processing or is this estimate not accurate at all?

Thank you for your input

Unfortunately, no one here can say for sure how long your case will take. That’s dependent on your case and your field office. Take it with a grain of salt, but I have seen many posts where people who filed online got their citizenship long before the estimated completion time. Mine says 12 months so I’m right there with you in hoping it will not take that long but only time will tell.  You will find that the first part of the process (receipt notice and biometrics) will go by quickly and then you’ll be in the waiting game with the rest of us.

It means you're now into the hole of waiting for an email to say they're now putting you in-line for an interview. Presumably they're using your biometric information to just make sure you're not featuring in any police records that you've omitted to tell them about and that your fingerprints aren't matching any they've found at the site of an unsolved crime

Some in the January filers are already out of this hole and getting notified they're in-line for interviews but others in December and November still seem to be in the "actively checking" stage (though presumably not all update their information)

Dave,

thank you you for your response. I received an email very early this morning saying there was an update on my account, I logged in and my status says “We Reviewed Your Biometrics” the wait time also went down to 11 months from 12. O guess now we just wait :-)

I got excited when I saw there was an update on mine he morning after my biometrics but it was only to tell me the case completion time decreased by a month like it did with you.

Unlike a lot of folks on here, this is my first time going through immigration stuff on my own as I was a minor when I got my green card. The only other time I had to deal with any of this first hand was when I had  to replace my green card when my wallet was stolen a few years ago. I have to say it’s pretty torturous waking up every day hoping there’s an update and I’m only 26 days in. I really applaud all of you who had to have patience for years waiting for updates and approvals!

I got excited when I saw there was an update on mine he morning after my biometrics but it was only to tell me the case completion time decreased by a month like it did with you.

Unlike a lot of folks on here, this is my first time going through immigration stuff on my own as I was a minor when I got my green card. The only time I had to deal with any of this first hand was when I had  to replace my green card when my wallet was stolen a few years ago. I have to say it’s pretty torturous waking up every day hoping there’s an update and I’m only 20 days in. I really applaud all of you who had to have patience for years waiting for updates and approvals!

Yeah, it’s been a journey indeed lol. I just received my 10 year gc last week and I applied for citizenship the same day. I was removing conditions on my gc and that took 15 months alone. Trust me it will become second nature, and you’ll find yourself checking this blog and uscis at least once a day, it’s nice to have the support group.

Hi everyone, so my husband and I talked about  whether we should wait for my 10 year GC (physically) or should I file, tonight on his birthday after a long discussion we decided to file. We uploaded my old conditional GC plus my 10 year GC approval. So filing date 28 Feb.

Good morning

So I got my green card through marriage on 05/27/2015.

I applied for the 10 years green card in California on 03/02/2017.

I just applied online  for the citizenship yesterday on 02/27/2018. The website was working well I have been complaining a lot about USCIS and the delay but at least the online process was really smooth.

I hope this is timeframe is wrong because we applied and were told the same thing going through SLC.  I don't know what the hold-up could be other than them just dragging their feet on processing.  I guess we will find out more as time goes on.  Good luck!
