Hi all--

My husband and I have been living with my parents for the entirety of our time in the States. Therefore, we have no utility bills, deeds, etc, to provide with the i-751 form. I saw some older threads suggesting I get a notarized affidavit from my parents to support that we've been living here. Should I also scan their driver's licenses to support that... ? Any other ideas on what I might provide?

Thank you!!

Yes to affidavits and you could copy their drivers license onto their affidavit.

The things others have mentioned above plus if you have them the following power of attorney, wills, life insurance,  evidence of being listed as guarantor on medical bills if either of you have been admitted to hospital.

These in addition to the affidavit? Or just these and no need for the affidavit? Affidavits seem to be a point of contention around here...

And thank you all for all your answers!

You should present multiple pieces of evidence....in this case, I suggest as many different pieces as possible.

Only contentious when they are just affidavits to the bonefide nature of a relationship but yours would be in lieu of a lease for staying there so serves a different purpose.

Your affidavit would be necessary as it shows why you do not have a joint lease, bills, etc..

Affidavits stating the validity of your marriage would not be necessary.

Below is what I came up with, using the VJ affidavit template:

BEFORE ME, the undersigned authority, personally appeared [PARENT'S NAME] who, after being first duly sworn and cautioned upon her oath, deposes and states:

1.                  My name is [PARENTS NAME].  I live at [PARENT'S ADDRESS].  I was born in [BIRTH LOCATION] on [BIRTHDATE].  I have personal knowledge of the facts set forth herein.

2.                  [NAME] is my daughter, and was born on [DATE] in [LOCATION]

3.                  My daughter [DAUGHTER'S NAME] married [SON-IN-LAW'S NAME] on [DATE] in [LOCATION]. On [DATE], I attended a celebration of their marriage in [LOCATION]. This is their first and only marriage.

4.                  Our daughter [NAME] and son-in-law [NAME] are happily married and have lived with us since they moved to the United States on [DATE].

If you think there is something else I should add or clarify, please let me know.
