Actually, speaking of appointment... Does anyone know how intensely they ask you about the i-134 info? I am a student full time, but my parents have cosigned for us as well and they are able to support us and look good on paper. Is V going to have to defend this a lot? I submitted a letter explaining my situation, and my parents submitted a note saying they're willing to support us... How is this approached in the interview?

@Amit&Julie et al?

They requested our I-134 packet with tax returns, bank statements, employment detail, etc. in our case. Some are not asked for it...just depends on the officer and case. I would highly recommend completing the I-134 form and all supporting documents with your parents and ensuring that he has a copy for the interview in hand. The other option is to wait it out and see if they request it (in which case they'd issue a 221g for administrative Processing and request the documents). It's a 50/50 chance whether they'll ask for it!!

How many years of tax returns and months of bank statements did you bring with you?

@Amit&Julie et al?

I can't really offer advice on this situation as I make well over the required amount on my own and didn't need a co-sponsor.

Country-specific consulate thread is moved from the K-1 Case Progress subforum to the India regional forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

You have to above poverty line it uscis said on there website you should check that. I just go through k1 in last March first thing they required in my interview in India Mumbai that was her pay stubs and tax returns but if they approved your petition in USA and you already explained it to them like your parents sponsored then it might works.

I know this might not exactly be the right place to post this query but I'll give it a shot.
I am currently in Mumbai waiting for NVC to send our packet to the consulate here. While collecting the documents I just got to know that I need to submit a PCC from Japan for the one year that I lived there in 2011 - 2012. Now I've read that getting the PCC from Mumbai Japan embassy takes a minimum of one month and me and my fiancee were hoping to book my interview ASAP.

My question is, how important is the PCC from Japan for me for the interview?Would this surely lead to a 221g for me?  I have already lived in the US through an F1 visa for my masters and work for 3 years and I did not think my work related stay in Japan would pose to be a problem now.

The PCC instructions on Mumbai Packet 4 are pretty clear: "Bring a police clearance certificate from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for six months or more since age 16".

I'd be willing to bet they *would* issue a 221g if you didn't have the Japan PCC. Why take any chance? Request it ASAP, and it might be ready in time for your interview. In my mind, that's preferable to risking it and then worrying about it in the interview and potentially facing longer delays due to Administrative Processing. I know it's hard, but try to be patient and get all your ducks docs in a row so you can go into the interview with confidence.

Great place to ask the question!!

We are in four weeks and counting of adminstrative processing for missing Regional PCC from Bangalore Passport SEVA office (they rejected local PCC from Tumkur). I would highly suggest ordering from Japan, pay expedite if available, and then push interview as needed. If you go without, you will be placed in AP and face another 1-2mth delay after you submit the doc.
