Hello Everyone,

I'm Rimjhim and my NOA1 date is December 26,2017. It should take about 2-3 months more for my approval.

I'm reading and getting ready for the whole process after NOA2.

Congratulations to everyone here on getting approved !!!

@IndiaAnnie now that my appointment is booked. When should I start checking for earlier dates? Same day or starting next day? And you said just check it early morning and afternoon and late night for it?

Congrats!!! That's the best feeling ever when you get to that point... you're on your way.

Here's my input you a few of your questions from our experience:

1. Start checking on Monday local time daily (nothing will change over weekends)...odd hours IST are best so may be easier for US fiance to check. I logged on from U.S. at 6am PST, 2pm PST and 8pm PST to catch India morning, middle of night and evening.

You might see a change or opening come up every 3 days or so from my experience.

2. See my other post about PCC and forget local. I know it sucks but you may need to travel to regional center.

3. Next, email india-support@ustraveldocs.com and request an electronic copy of your appointment letter for medical. Also print the confirmation form online and the DS-160 plus bring minimum of eight passport type photos (Mumbai required eight copies).

4. Biometric is good just a few days before your interview so schedule nearby your interview. If you are traveling to Mumbai we did biometric on a Tues and interview on a Fri.

5. We did medical in Mumbai on Wed,  April 11th. It was 3-4hr process, 15000INR (could be more depending on immunizations) and we picked up packet on Thurs afternoon. I would suggest at least 3-days ahead minimum.

You're almost there and you will likely get a closer date in the coming weeks.

 Annie

Wow thanks Annie for such detailed information. This would certainly help. I wish I would have asked some of the questions earlier than getting to the moment.

(1) I’m on that strategy to get earlier date. Hopefully I do find an opening soon. I have scheduled my biometric for May 15th and interview as of now is on June 29. Is that much gap between them okay? What if I don’t find different interview date until after biometric is done on May 15. Can I just reschedule consulate interview later?

(2) argh hardy har har. I’ll check PCC now with regional office. Send me the link that you guys used??

(3) I already received an email regarding interview confirmation. I know the DS-160 is not needed but I forgot to print my entire app for myself. Is that a problem somewhere down the road?

(4) biometric question asked above. If I could get consulate appointment sooner than June 29 and that happens before May 15, then I’ll reschedule my biometric to be done in mumbai before consulate interview.

(5) I’m doing my medical in New Delhi since I live here and going for medical next week. I hope some gap of a month or weeks is fine between medical and consulate interview. Any thoughts?

You are on a great path...

Your Biometric gap is fine in advance of medical and interview. No issues with what you have in process and that will give you time to hit Regional Passport Office in New Delhi (schedule online at http://www.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink).

I think you'll get it all done mid-May and get an interview date soon thereafter....wishing you the very best through the process and keep me posted!!!

You’re awesome!! Thanks much!

I did reply to your other post on a different forum. I’m hitting regional office on Wednesday and medical on Wednesday too. At this point I want to be prepared with all these docs and formalities and be prepared for consulate interview.

Help!

I just rescheduled V's appointment to May 4th without exactly thinking that there may be no medical appointments... who do we have to bribe to get one in the next three days? I got a little too excited thinking he could come to my graduation and needless to say we are a little worried...

Call the approved clinic ASAP and ask them to schedule for May 1st or 2nd due to unexpected appt date. Then complete medical Tues/Wed, pick up results on Thursday and attend appt on Friday. We did medical on April 11th, picked up on 12th and interviewed on the 13th.

I just called and they said there aren't any appointments! Before they wouldn't give us a date because it was too far, now they won't because its too close!

Hi,

What is the difference between Packet 3 and Packet 4 mentioned in the VJ timeline? What does the Mumbai Consulate address Packet 3 or Packet 4 ?

Each embassy is different, some send both Packet 3 and 4 but Mumbai only sends one packet, Packet 4 to the beneficiary.

You can find an example Packet 4 PDF at bottom of this page for Mumbai: https://in.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/

It also includes a full copy of the I-129f application, all parties personal information, etc. So don't let it get into anyone's hands!!!

@IndiaAnnie believe it or not, but I found one slot available for Mayb11 for consulate interview so I went for it. I have my PCC and medical on 05/02, so hopefully both of that goes fine and I have docs. If for any reason any doc is missing or not available and interview date comes up, would they still let me interview or ask me to reschedule? I’m afraid I won’t get earlier date then.

also, I’m a bit nervous so could you tell me what kind of questions were asked to your fiancée during interview?

That's awesome news!!!

You'll have medical in hand with you when you go to interview by then no problem. They asked Prasad for the I-134 support affidavit which included my 3yrs tax return, 3mo bank statements, etc. so have that sent over by your fiance electronically and print a copy just in case. We had extra copies of anything and everything pertaining to our case.

Since our file was "incomplete" at arrival (due to local PCC) the officer was brief, dismissive and frankly rude because he already knew he was using a 221g notice. He did ask about our work (that's how we met), prior divorce, dates of prior visits, looked at a few photos, etc. I would suggest looking at feedback posted by @Amit&Julie for a better representation of the interview process. Julie posted some really great info and advice.

You'll do great and recommend taking interview in English if you are comfortable with it...seems to me that there was a little bias by the US Officer against the interpreter cases but that's just my perception.

Keep us posted...

P.S. We are still in administrative Processing since interview April 13th but see that they touched our case as of April 24th so we're praying for good news soon.

Yeah I think I’ll have my medical soon. I’m just worried about PCC tho. I hope I get it the same day I go or in a day or two since my address on passport is different than present address.

and yes agreee. Better to be safe than sorry. I’ll be carrying extra papers as well. But I don’t have her tax papers since instructions for I-134 said to get that only if one is employed. I do have W-2s. I’ll ask her to email me her tax returns. I also asked her to send me copy of her birth certificate just in case they wanted to verify if she was US citizen 😂... and I did read Julie’s @Amit&Julie interview post. That did help. I’m seeking more just in case. At this point I’m just nervous about one fact that I have traveled and lived in US as a student and I’m wondering if CO would ask anything in regards to that or would it be just be pertaining to my fiancé and I. I know I’ll be asked how we met but let’s see. No bad history tho. Should I print out recent convos between My fiancé and I and/or call logs and letter of intent to marry, again? We sent that with I-129F but I’m thinking of taking recent ones too.

and oh yeah, I’ll be interviewing in English only. No worries about that. I learnt a lot of slang while in US so hopefully I don’t use that much. But were you at the interview too since you noticed that difference between us officer and intepreter.

And also, one last question. My fiancé and I have a wedding date set in place? We haven’t arranged anything yet but have a date and venue aimed at? Should I mention that to CO or be quiet about it if asked?

Thanks for the understanding. It definitely helps in the confusion here.
