Great place to ask the question!!

We are in four weeks and counting of adminstrative processing for missing Regional PCC from Bangalore Passport SEVA office (they rejected local PCC from Tumkur). I would highly suggest ordering from Japan, pay expedite if available, and then push interview as needed. If you go without, you will be placed in AP and face another 1-2mth delay after you submit the doc.

Can I ask why they rejected your local PCC?

They said they only accept regional PCC now through passport SEVA office but they have his passport so they'll have to go get it themselves lol! I suspect due to elections and whatnot they only want govt sanctioned results. Our lawyer checked local system and no inquiry has come back to Tumkur on him so they likely just ordered the official PCC themselves. All guessing but I did file a report that they need to change the website instructions if that's the case...not cool to have bad instructions posted online and then issue AP status.

I haven't searched other threads to see if it's a common issue but likely happens to others!?!

The PCC instructions on Mumbai Packet 4 are pretty clear: "Bring a police clearance certificate from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for six months or more since age 16".

I'd be willing to bet they *would* issue a 221g if you didn't have the Japan PCC. Why take any chance? Request it ASAP, and it might be ready in time for your interview. In my mind, that's preferable to risking it and then worrying about it in the interview and potentially facing longer delays due to Administrative Processing. I know it's hard, but try to be patient and get all your ducks docs in a row so you can go into the interview with confidence.

Sorry about the late reply.Well, after reading this I'm just going to get it asap... Just sucks that it takes more than a month and half to get it from Japan. Damn ducks keep running away :(

Hope you get the your visa processed soon

Are specific wedding plans a plus or a minus in the CO's eyes? I was wondering whether we should include our wedding plans as part of the proof for the interview.

If you have evidence of some plans, it probably can't hurt, but don't risk booking a venue/date ($$) so you can have proof of that. I think the COs are reasonable enough to understand if you don't have a date or venue booked yet, as long as you have some ideas of what you want to do for your wedding.

The officer asked in our interview what our wedding plans are. I said that although we were waiting to get the visa before making definite plans, I mentioned a specific area where I wanted to get married. I brought my wedding dress receipt and emails to wedding planners as evidence, but he did not ask for it.

@Amit&Julie how long did the passport take? I’m so worried we will have to cancel our wedding if he doesn’t get it, it’s been 3 days so far! Who can I go to for help?

Hi to Everyone,

I am just preparing for steps post NOA2 to be taken in India - Mumbai Embassy.

If I’m not wrong the order of procedure is as follows:

  1. After NOA2 approval , case goes to NVC ( takes about 20-25 days)
  2. Case number n all is assigned and then it is transferred to Mumbai Embassy ( takes about 15 days)
  3. In the meanwhile DS-160 , i134 n other required documents can be prepared n kept ready.
  4. After Mumbai Embassy receives the request, packet 3 letter or information is sent to beneficiary n interview can be scheduled.

My questions are:

a).When can the DS-160 be submitted and fees be paid at NVC stage or only after Mumbai Embassy sends the letter to beneficiary?

b) Same for medical n Visa Interview- how early can they be scheduled?

c) What is the minimum time gap required between medical n Visa Interview for Mumbai ? Can they be done in one week’s time.

d) After visa is approved at Embassy, in how many days approximately do you get your passport back ? Is it necessary for you to go n collect your passport or they can courier it to you?

Would appreciate any answers to help me prepare my timeline better .

Thanks so much for helping out !!!

I didn't wait for the packet to schedule the interview, I scheduled it after it said ready on the NVC website. For the medical I think for most places you can receive your medical the next day that's how it was for my fiance, just call the place you will have your medical performed, I think at least a week before your interview will be good. As for your last question, you can pick up your passport in Mumbai, or they will be able to courier your visa to your home in only certain parts India. They also have pick up locations to get your passport if they are not able to courier it to your home.

We also scheduled after "READY" CEAC status, but have yet to receive a packet (been 2 weeks since READY). Our interview is next week. Called USTravelDocs, but they just tell me that I wasn't "supposed to" book an interview before receiving the instruction packet. I have no idea if we will get one in time, but it doesn't seem to be required. Any feedback?

Packet 4 is available online and nothing but instructions for what you've already completed and a copy of all the original documentation included with petition (which I had my fiance father put in date keeping for the family since it has all my personal info).

You can find the packet main page here: Packet-4-IV-Approved-version.pdf

You don't need it for the interview but warning that they did ask for my (petitioner) support affidavit (I-134), taxes and bank detail so have originals or fiance scan to you in advance.

Good luck!!!
