I'm wondering if anyone has ever been in or is concerned about a similar situation?

I booked me K1 visa medical today at Knightsbridge. Before doing so I understood that I would probably need to request a medical summary from my GP so I requested this last week and have that in hand.

Upon confirmation of medical appointment they sent me an updated list of documentation requirements. This now mentions not only the GP medical summary but also a summary of any serious illness or treatment from my past. You can request this directly from the specialist/doctor/hospital that treated you.

I was diagnosed with Testicular Seminoma (cancer) in May 2011. I underwent testicular removal and had one dose of chemo to kill any possible cancer cells that could remain. I then attended regular hospital check ups (chest x-rays, blood tests, CT scans) for a further four years. I should mention they caught the cancer super early and chemo was just a precaution.

Crucially however I missed my final check up (end of year 5 cancer free) because I was travelling for the year abroad. I stupidly failed to re-book my appointment when I returned to the UK.

Obviously the previous check ups all came back fine and I've been in good health for nearly 7 years since the cancer.

I am worried however because on my medical summary from my GP the testicular cancer still shows as active. I'm guessing this is because I missed my final appointment or possibly could be a clerical/communication error between hospital and GP. I believe it could be an error because of the amount of wrong/missing information on my GP summary. I mean I had meningitis when I was 13 and that isn't listed. I also broke my elbow and wrist at the same time but both fractures are listed 5 years apart!!

My medical is in 3 weeks. I've contacted my old hospital to try and resolve this issue/get hold of my treatment record but its Friday and wont receive a reply until at least Monday. My exam is in 3 weeks though and I'm majorly stressed this could force me to delay my appointment.

Will my visa medical doctor really fail me on cancer I had 7 years ago just because of 1 missed appointment!?

If anyone has any thoughts or experience with this kind of issue I'd be greatly appreciative!?

I can't speak to the individual doctor you will see.

I have a neck injury that will require fairly major spinal surgery one day. While I lead a fairly normal life right now, the injury or surgery could affect my ability to work, drive, etc., in the future. I was worried about this going in to the medical for my IR-1 visa. I asked the doctor doing my exam about it, and he said I had nothing to worry about. According to the doctor, U.S. immigration is only worried about threats to public health and safety, hence the focus on vaccinations, STD testing, TB testing, possible violence related to individual cases of mental illness, etc.

I passed the medical exam and was issued my IR-1 visa without issue -- the neck injury was not a problem. If I were you, I would continue trying to resolve the issue for some added peace of mind... but I think you will be totally fine.

Firstly, Thank you for you reply and sorry to hear about your neck injury.

I have also seen on similar(ish) topics that really doctors are more worried about threats to public health. I'm hoping I can get the Issue resolved. If not I'm hoping that abit of common sense will come into play... Considering it was 7 years ago, I underwent treatment and attended all but one check up... I mean would I really be travelling the world and trying to move to america all whilst suffering from testicular cancer.

thanks again for your reply!
