So yesterday we got our case number from the NVC and our CEAC status says 'case is in transit'

i was wondering when i can schedule a date for my medical.. can i do that anytime now along as i have all documents required for my medical?  and does it matter when i schedule it and how far apart it is from the interview date (which i'm yet to book) as i've read that i can't book my interview until my CEAC status is at 'ready'

I'm just a little confused as i've read many different topics and still not straight on an answer.

If you have your LND number from NVC, book your medical.

As you are doing a K1, You also need to do form DS-160

Once CEAC says ready, you can book your interview. Needs to be a week from the date of your medical appointment.

Hope that helps

Knightsbridge will only ask your case number so you are set to ring them up and pick a date (providing you have you police certificate, health summary printout, and your immunizations sorted). If you need more shots or a specific condition written up by you GP, you should check with his schedule first. Some can be so slow to provide what you need. You want to pick a medical date after you're sorted with GP things.

You can book your interview anytime the system will let you in. If it says anything like "not found" or your case number isn't valid, then still a little early. Try again next day. Pick a date that allows at least 5 days after your medical. If your Medical goes well with no holdups needing more from your GP, your results could be at the embassy 3-4 days later. A little cushion of time is probably a good plan.

Have your fiancé mail the I-134 to you right away if you don't already have it. Read your London instructions for all the extra details. https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

You have to pay for the visa and courier prior to the interview. That is a separate process from filling out the DS-160. Have you read the London Embassy web page of K1 step by step instructions?

I’ve been reading so many different things on the next step I’ve missed a few things and the visa fee being one of them! It’s so easy to get confused with all of the information you need and planning for the medical/interview. Thank you for this information, I appreciate it.

What I found successful for this entire multi-year process from K1 petition to US citizen is

  • Get your information straight from the source. Read all the form directions top to bottom several times. Read all the links the London website offers on the K1 pages. Read FAQS.
  • Learn the next process coming up thoroughly instead of moaning on the wait time for the step you're on and checking status constantly. Read ahead instead of waiting idly.
  • Use these forums to find those official sources or help you interpret a passage you found on an official source if you don't understand it. Use them to see how people messed up so you don't make the same mistake (read ahead to your next process). Don't let the forums be your main source of instruction. Often it's the blind leading the blind and contradictory responses.
  • Make a photocopy for your records of every single application, form, piece of evidence, and the check you wrote before you send something off.
  • Don't depend on your phone to get you through immigration. This is serious stuff. Get on a big screen. Print out the form instructions and follow them line by line. Underline or highlight important stuff in the details.

This isn't specific to you and your London interview, but to everybody going through the immigration process....petition, visa, entry to US, adjustment of status, removing conditions, and naturalization as a US citizen.
