Just bring your expired green card and your extension letter (I797).  When I went back to the Philippines I brought the expired green card, my extension letter and my marriage certificate. Best of luck.

You can travel with your expired green card and the extension letter. During the whole ROC process, I traveled with the extension letter and expired GC 3 times (to different countries for vacations), no problems at all. I didn't bring my marriage certificate with me on these 3 trips, but I think it's good suggestion.
