 has experience in sales.

As do a lot of people

Does he have a degree or substantial experience at a high level (think area manager rather than sales assistant in one branch)?

Does he work for an international company with locations in the US?

Work visas are hard to get, there are limits on the numbers and for some you need to have a certain level of education with the employer showing that no US resident can do it

Well first have to find a company that will sponsor someone for that position.

There are agencies online that can help with placement also but they are costly.

Also, does he have a degree or anything? What does he do for "sales" right now?

As for my husband, he has a bachelors in management but he went through a very rigorous selection process for him to get a J-1(internship) previously.

Without an advanced degree and specialized work experience, a work visa is extremely difficult to obtain.

A J1 visa (cultural exchange) might be an option. It is not easy either. And he has to go back for 2 years to Philipines after the J1 program is done before being able to come back to US. But his stay as a J1 will give you time to consider your relationship, know each other and maybe you decide to marry, process a fiancee visa during his 2 years away.

To be honest, a work visa is really a long shot. Almost impossible for someone that is currently abroad, even with high qualifications (bachelor in engineering, science, etc, specialized work experience ). Promotions at a mall is not really a specialized expertise enough to justify a work visa.

Currently, he works in promotions at a mall. We have been talking for over 2 years now and he wants to come here and work any kind of job that will bring him here. I am physically disabled and can't travel on my own to go over there and meet him.

Well any actual work visa, or again internship possibility, really requires someone with unique skills/degrees/ect... meaning someone who can perform a task someone else locally in the US can't.

And again it isn't cheap, it is a costly process. Not to detour your efforts; but these are realities.

Can a person come over on a tourist visa and while they are over here decide they want to work here and live?

Using a tourist visa to "see if they want to stay" is technically fraud. It is intentionally using one visa (ment for tourism/vacation) in an attempt to bypass the appropriate visa.

Now that being said, it is fairly difficult for filipinos (specially young, single, no advanced education, no major finances, ect) to be approved for a tourist visa. Not impossible; but very difficult.

Using a tourist visa to enter the country with the intention of staying is visa fraud, don’t have him risk being given a permanent ban for misrepresenting his intentions.

Can you travel a short way? Meet in a third country that both of you can get to

You say you can’t travel on your own, could you travel with assistance such as a friend or a hired assistant?

Yes, I can travel with help. My parents and family don't want me to travel out of the country though

You might just have to in order to meet this person.

How long have you known him, how did you meet, and have you spoken to each other’s families?

Maybe if they got to know him then they would be ok to go with you to meet him?

In order for you to sponsor him for a fiancé or spouse visa you would need to be earning 125% of the poverty amount decided by USCIS. If you don’t you would need a cosponsor so if your family and friends aren’t supportive then even if you met you wouldn’t be able to bring them over.

The thing is that I am on a government program that pays for my home healthcare and if I get married, I will lose my healthcare. It sucks! I met him online and we have talked for over 2 years. If it was up to me, I would bring him over on a fiancé visa and he would already be over here. That is why he wants to come over on a work visa someday. He is talking about starting a franchising business so he can earn money faster. He has a mentor helping him. I have talked with his mentor and she has a fiancé in America also. So we are kind of in the same situation.

Almost everything having to do with international romantic relationships is expensive and takes time, and there really are no shortcuts. If you're super patient and super thrifty in saving money needed for travel, visa/immigration applications, etc., then you might realize your dream someday. Based on what you're describing, I think saving money to visit him and then going through a k1 visa process would yield the best chance of success.

If he doesn't have an excellent education or great work experience in some unique job ( not counting sales at the mall..) then there is absolute 0 chance for his work visa. Especially once new immigration laws come to life.

You cannot use tourist visa to come to USA to look for jobs and deciding to stay. Clue in the name of the visa. Tourist. I'm sorry but you sound very naive about the immigration. You should spend some time educating yourself.

If you want to sponsor him you can look up k1 visa. But you need an actual income, job or cosponsors. The whole process is expensive and the new immigrant cannot work for at least few months after arriving to the USA. You don't sound like a person who can handle those responsibilities right now. The expenses just for that immigration process would be around 2000$. Not to mention you actually have to meet in person before filing for k1.

You're sure he has genuine feelings for you or maybe he's just looking for ways to get to the USA?
