question about fiancee's child

hi to all! i hope someone can answer my question. I have a filed for a fiancee visa for my girl in the Philippines, everything went well with the interview and she is just waiting for her police clearance from another country she worked in. After that they will release her visa. The embassy of Japan (which the country she worked in) said that it will be released between now and 1 1/2 months from now. My girl is pregnant right now and is due in 2 months. If for some reason she gives birth there, I understand that she can take our child as a k-1 dependent.

My question is , does anyone here know what the processing time is for that type of situation? Do i have to wait another 8 months for them to get here? or will it be sooner? Any info would be appreciated.. thanks.

if it's your child, then he or she is automatically an American citizen, no matter where the birthplace. N'est-ce pas?

Yup, but you still have to file with the US Consulate reporting a birth abroad. I do recall somthing about needing to do that within 60-90 days after the birth of the child. Though my cerificate of birth abroad was files over 4 years after I was born, though that was in the 80's. But if its your child, you dont need to get a visa for the child.

But my child is illegitimate.. dont i have to prove that its mine through some type of test lke DNA? Is it better if makes our child as her dependent?

That doesnt matter. There is still only one father. If you are the father, then the child can become an american citizen just by registering the birth with the consulate. It doesnt matter if the child was born in or out of wedlock.

No problem bringing your child .. but I wonder why it is taking so long for your girl's police clearance, you posted about it in January and it is now April.

the embassy of japan would not give her a clearance without an official letter from the us embassy. And the us embassy did not give her that letter until the interview date. Her interview was this last march. and it takes 1 1/2 mo to 3 months to get it.

what a provincial attitude! I hope you don't treat your child as if something were wrong with him/her just because his parents weren't quite married yet. Does a piece of paper really make a child legitimate?

sounds like the dark ages

If this is in fact your child then it makes no sense other than to do what is needed to assure that the child gets his/her US Citizenship. You best get reading the information that is presented on the Embassy website.

yeah thats life buddy! i dont have a problem with my devotion to my son. i have a problem with them getting here on time. The rules are if they kid is born out of wedlock , the child has to be legitimated. Those are the rules of the good ol' USA comprende???

The process to legitimize the child does not appear that onerous.... I would think a little time up front would save you some agony in the long run
