1040+ W2's will work.

Hi @Geodude850, thank you for the reply. Quick question, have gotten CC and did you only submit 1040 and W-2?

That will NOT be a problem as long as you qualify to file as head of household. You can be married and still file as head of household if that gives you a better tax advantage. That's what I did anyways.

Thank you

Hey guys, I have a question.
I already paid my fees and recently just gave my financial and all other documents to my lawyer today. She is sending my package to NVC by next week..

My question is that is it okay if I filed my taxes as single for 2017? My lawyer made me do this, she said its okay because my husband doesn't have a social security number or anything since he's not here. I'm feeling a little uneasy about this.. so please let me know guys if its okay? I don't want this to be a problem :/

Also:  I have a joint sponsor with my dad.. since I only work part-time and am a full-time student as well...

--

Another question: How long does it take after you send in everything to NVC? What are the next steps.

3

You have three options when doing your taxes and your spouse is a nonresident alien

1) Married, joint filing (you will need to apply for a TIN for your spouse which is a process itself)

2) Married, filing separately

3) Head of household if you qualify

Filing as single would be wrong since... you're married but I cannot comment on how this will impact your case. Best of luck.

Currently it's taking anywhere between 6 and 9 months for the I-130 to be approved. If you complete your timeline, it will give you an estimated approval date.

Oh okay cool. Please Did you send original or scanned copy? My husband insisted on scanned copy, that nvc said no originals. I hope we don't get a checklist.

Yes I know that. but we will probably have the interview after the 15th of April so we will need it, plus the tax season is on so we have to do it anyway.

You only submit the most recent tax years. If your interview happens after April 15th, then you send your 1040 or whatever form you will use for 2017 to your beneficiary to take with to the interview with your W2

Hi guys,

I see other people asking about taxes and im having a hard time with this also. Right now im waiting for IV Fee to process as i already paid it. I was wondering when i have to submit my tax info it will be most likely march. I was planning on filing an extension otherwise i would have to pay around $1500 in taxes.. if my wife was here and had a ssn i would get a return of around 2000. So our interview will most likely be in april.. what do i send for financial support documents?? 2014 2015 and 2016?? what is the interview is after april 15th will it be a problem if i didnt submit 2017 taxes or the receipt of the extension will be enough?? Help please!!

Another question..

Which are the barcoded cover sheets for the AOS and IV packages??? Is it the ones you receive on the emails where you get the document cover sheet (checklist) or is it the invoices you print out from the website???? they all have barcodes i dont understand. When you go on the website you hit print cover sheet that has a barcode. When you hit print invoice theres one for AOS and 1 for IV those also have barcodes. Which one is it??
