Thanks - hes actually already done this but he was told by USPS there was no guarantee that a letter posted with stamps would actually arrive in the UK or arrive on time :(

If it doesn't get there, then show them a scanned copy he emails to you. Look real sad and say he mailed in January and six weeks later you are still waiting. They will say no problem. Approved. London has done that before.

Have him mail another next week, just in case the first one goes astray.  It's $2.13. I looked it up. It is not worth $60.

When is your interview?

16th March - quite a few weeks away! Which is why I couldn't understand the USPS staff member telling him it possibly wouldn't arrive by then.

I'm just going to tell my fiance to send it with their global express service and pay the $60.

Crazy as I can send documents to the US for far cheaper. I actually sent a whole box of gifts to the US for his birthday for around £50 postage!... this is just a few sheets of paper and an envelope...

They say that because they want him to pick an expensive service. No it's not guaranteed, but 99% likely. Read my edit where I said send another. It is foolish to waste that kind of money for something you don't need for 6 weeks.  And others have been approved in London when they told their said story of it not arriving.

Tell him to go to USPS tomorrow and send one for a reasonable price. It will get there on time. Try not to worry!

The only reason my husband paid $100 was that he sent it with UPS guaranteed delivery like one week before my interview.

I kinda agree. To pay 60 bucks for something that you don't need until 6 weeks is crazy. The only reason we paid 100 bucks was that my husband had been away and had to send it only a week before my interview.

Thank you so much everyone - will let my fiance know to send a wet signature copy. I'm going to print a e-signature copy to take just in case the wet signature copy doesn't arrive / doesn't arrive in time.

For reference, e-signatures are not accepted by USCIS or DOS (NVC/embassies). A printout of a scanned version is one thing, an e-signature is another.

That is their most expensive way of sending with all the bells and whistles - trying to capitalize on his obvious anxiety I will wager. Insurance that isn’t needed on documents that have no financial value. I tend to look up what I need online and specifically ask for it when I go in otherwise they try and sell you the most expensive thing. I have never had anything take 6 weeks to get back to the uk including the Christmas card I sent that got lost then turned up a month later.

Ok why in the world would it cost that much to just send a few papers in a flat rate envelope? Not being a smart ### at all. I need to know this because my fiance is UK as well...most light weight stuff doesn't cost that much for me....

I have never paid as little as $1.15 to send a letter from the US to Europe. Maybe within the US....

That's the first class rate for an ounce overseas in the right sized envelope. The global forever stamps are currently $1.15.

It's the "right size envelope" that's the problem. I have a habit of buying birthday cards that are the "wrong size" so they cost more.

Hi everyone, first post here! Trying to read around and getting ready for the long painful process that awaits us

We've been told from a friend immigration lawyer who offered to have a look at our papers that every signature needs to be a wet ink signature.

I sent him the intention letter via Italian Post, got there in 6 days and spent € 4.50. But even if it was 80 I wouldn't take a chance :D

Best of luck!

Wet signatures used to be required, but that stopped a few years ago. I can’t find any case with an RFE asking for a wet signature in recent years (and signatures for foreign beneficiaries in general have been removed in numerous recent form editions).

When we did our K1 application my husband(then fiance of course)made 2 copies of everything. When he had send it in he send everything back to me in the Netherlands. It takes about a week for a card to get to my family and about 3 weeks for a box, because of customs. If your fiance sends copies of everything(!) you guys filled for you application, you should be fine. I would recommend to send it as registered mail, just for your peace of mind since you'll get a track and trace number. We never had an RFE for anything. Not for our K1 and not for our AOS
