I know. That's why I thought of asking here. My husband was just recently approved for SSDI and the first few years of our marriage was a little tight when it comes to money and so he just recently opened a bank account and I was also just recently approved for EAD and I just got my social security number a month ago so I couldn't really do anything or open a bank account or him putting me on joint account as they always ask for proof of legal residency or SSN in the first few years of our marriage. However, we do travel together with our kids and we have a lot of photos showing this. I take it we can add those to the list of proofs to bring?

Yes, if you have an interview you can take that with you to show the officer. Just be honest and open then there won't be any problems at all.

That just proves that you two had sex at least twice. Pasenya na, I know I am coming across as mean but I am trying to play the devil's advocate for you right now. You need something on paper to show that you two are a couple and living together. W

When my asawa and I first got married I added her to the rental contract, my car/health insurance, bank accounts, gas/electric bills to show that we are together. You need to start doing the same thing as well. My wife does not have any credit at all and she is still on my credit cards, and it hasn't affected them or my score at all.

I understand what you're trying to tell me. My point is, we have no bills and no mortgage as we are using solar power and my husband already bought our house and lot before we even met. We do have proofs that we are living together for almost 5 years and we can have them notarized. In your opinion, will that help, considering we have no bills or mortgage on both our names?

What about your income taxes? Have you filed married, jointly? That would be additional evidence. And how about car registration? Just in his name?

And as others have said, adding a name to a savings or checking account shouldn't impact either of your credit scores.

Someone from the bank told us that if I put my name on my husband's savings account or start a joint savings account that my credit will be affected as welk since he has a bad credit. Is this even correct?

That is not correct. I work for a bank and having your name on your husbands savings account does not affect your credit or credit score in any way.

You have to have some utility bills you can both be on. I have a solar system as well and am Net Zero for my system( No usage off the grid) Unless you are completely off grid with a battery backup system, you still get a bill from the power company for the Meter rental( You can't legally own a meter hooked to their grid, I have tried, trust me). I live in Las Vegas, NV and in the summer when it is 115 out I still don't have a power bill, but I get a bill for 13.75 a month for Meter Charges. You don't have any cable, water, gas, sewer, trash bills. You obviously have internet access, you must get a bill for that, do you have cell phones? I have checked with all my utility companies so I know what ones I can add my fiancee to when she gets here, and I can add her to all but one bill. I will have her on my Power/ cable/ gas/ water and sewer, so that's 4 bills easy, plus maybe get added as an authorized user on a few credit cards, I already added my fiancee to one of my credit cards with no foreign transaction fees so she can buy things she needs, and most importantly pay for the embassy fees, travel, medical, vaccinations and other expenses to get the K1 visa, so should have a record of a joint credit card to show also. Do one of you own a car? You can both be on the title, if your worried just make sure you put Owners name "AND" your name on the title that way both signatures are required to sell the vehicle( If your worried about that, probably not after being together 5 years). You have drivers license (ID Card) with the same address I'm sure. Go get a joint Gym membership, if you search I am sure you can come up with some good ways to show you are commingled.

How are you posting on here? Don't you have an internet provider? Or are you using someone else's wi-fi? Get yourself on the internet bill. Yes, you have solar power but what about water, garbage, property taxes?

You have two  young children together. Immigration matters aside, you should have something in place that gives them security should one or both of you die whilst they are still young. You are never too young to have a will or life insurance.

What about your husband's work-related benefits? Are you named as a beneficiary on his 401(k)? Does his company have a "death in service" policy? If so, you and the children should be listed as beneficiaries.

Yes, we have mails on both our names indicating our address. I just remember, he put me on an insurance from his bank stating I will receive something just in case something happens to him. Can we add that to the list?

Very weak evidence at best.

Phone and internet bills, a will, joint savings account for the kid's future etc. All seem like easy ways to get joint financials if you're living together.

You have children and a house not in your name, you should have both wills and living wills.  Check the laws in your state regarding wills, but often you can do these online and cheaply.

Include photos if your family since you are low on evidence.

I admit I know more couples with completely separate finances than with mixed. So your story isn't uncommon but due to immigration you need to explain why you have chosen this route and be prepared to back it up with paperwork.
