evalutation of foreign education credentials - PERU

We need to get Mirko's foreign education credentials (just his high school diploma) evaluated before he can enroll in college - has anyone had to do this and how does it usually pan out? He really doesn't want to have to get his GED, which I understand, but he needs to study so I'm trying to find out.

Thanks!

I wish I could help with this, but my husband and I are attempting to do almost the same thing. He has transcripts from his studies at the university that we need to have evaluated here in the states.

I don't know how (or if) it works...

From looking at his diploma, looks like everyone will 'translate' well but I want assurance. :crying: Haha, it's one thing after another.

For University transcripts (don't know about high school) there are several agencies that will evaluate them. Do a google search and you will find some.

YMMV

I suggest you ask the Admissions Office in the college that he wishes to attend. If its any college of any size then they are pretty used to evaluating foreign (overseas) college and high school transcripts. They will probably even have a procedure and their own translators.

If you're applying directly to a U.S. university, check with them first.

Here is what we did:

1) Hubby had certified copies of his university transcripts and diploma made up for him in Lima

2) the registrar's office at his Peruvian university (PUCP) put them in envelopes and had the seal/stamp of the university put across the top of the back flap of the envelope -- note: you have to give specific instructions to the office or they will do this differently

3) included in admissions application for postgraduate study

U.S. Universities have standardized methods for evaluating non-US educational credentials. In many cases it is not necessary to use a credentials evaluation service.

For non-university reasons (eg work), it may indeed be necessary to use the credentials service.

I agree with artegal and ardilla, I met my wife when she was studying in Texas. All colleges and universities have their own resources they use to evaluate foreign work or education credentials and, to my knowledge, Most will not even accept 3rd party evaluations. The evaluations through 3rd party creditential evaluations are sufficient for employment purposes though.

I'm definitely contacting the college first, I was more interested in if diplomas from Peru are generally accepted as equivalent to one from any of the States. Seems it may be.
