Hooray - lovely Infopass lady says I can just turn up for my biometrics at the date & time on my letter, only in Cincinnati instead of Columbus. She called down to the, uh, biometrics office (same building, a couple of floors below), and that's what they told her. She seemed very confused by the fact that I had one letter for the AOS & EAD appointments, as if that's unusual in some way... hmm.

Anyway, glad I'll have a five minute walk instead of a two hour drive to get to my biometrics appointment, and glad my husband doesn't have to take the afternoon off work unnecessarily to get me there! :)

Weeeeeeeee! Good news...and also good news that the Cincy office people are nice. I might need them sometime in the future, lol :)

Congrats!

Thank you! And yep, should you ever need to pay them a visit, they are (or were today, at least) very nice and laid-back indeed! :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

How does one usually find out about the biometrics appointment? Would I see it in my online updates? Does the information come with the original Notice of Receipt (I-797)? Or does it usually come later in a separate letter?

It seems that a lot of people here get their biometrics appointments set up only a couple of weeks after Chicago receives everything, and since we haven't heard anything about ours, that's why we're so concerned.

Thanks again!

You receive the biometrics letter in the mail.

Do you have your name on your mailbox? Some people here on VJ didn't receive their NOAS, biometrics notices and such simply b/c their mailboxes didn't show their names.

Thanks for the response. It's helpful to know I should get a letter in the mail.

We don't have a problem now with receiving mail at the new address. It's just that all of our NOA's were delivered while we were moving, and so for some reason the USPS didn't forward them (but apparently did forward some other things!).

I suppose we'll try to call USCIS tomorrow and see if they'll tell us whether they've already scheduled a biometrics appointment. They told us it might take 30 days before we receive those notices they tried to mail us before, so if we do have an appointment, we'd certainly miss it if we waited for the re-sent notices to arrive!

Any other suggestions?

Thanks! :)

2009: I-751 (Removal of permanent resident conditions)

No updates, just moving the listing up a few pages so it doesn't get buried. Hoping to see more people get transfers or interviews soon. The list looks so empty without all those filled in.

So I get to take an early weekend and go let him in.

Luckily my office is very understanding of such things.

The good news is it's Friday and I'm skipping town early to go away...the bad news is we got an RFE to spoil it all! I figured I was going to get (40) the 1099 request for my joint sponsor. I also got (9) which asks for income tax returns/transcript or a statement in place of income tax returns or proof of extension, and a letter from employer. I assume this applies to me because I did not submit tax returns. I was living outside the U.S until a few months ago and barely made any money here in the 2006 tax year. I submitted a statement instead saying I did not make above filing requirement (hence the joint sponsor). It could also apply to my joint sponsor because I sent signed returns instead of transcripts.

I guess the thing to do is file taxes and get transcripts for me and my joint sponsor. Anyone have any experience filing taxes when your income was "foreign earned" and somewhat undocumented?? :crying:

Happy Friday, everyone! (And Cassandra... sorry about the RFE :( )

Actually, I have a question for those who have had RFEs... did they show up on your online case status, or not? I'm convinced we're going to get an RFE (just my optimistic nature  ), so was wondering whether you get 'warning' in the form of a change in case status, or whether the RFE just lands in your mailbox to 'surprise' you out of the blue?

Hope everyone has good weekend stuff ahead of them... am looking forward to two days with my husband (and his daughter, as we have her coming up for the weekend) instead of sitting around the place being a lazy slacker!

My 4 boxes of stuff I shipped from the UK just arrived this afternoon (currently sitting downstairs in the rental office waiting to be brought up here), so there might be a weekend of unpacking ahead... if only there was actually space for any of my stuff, I've no idea where I'm going to put it all. Not that I can actually remember what was in the boxes, mind you... pretty much the only things I can remember are a load of sweaters, winter coats & my big thick duvet - mm, those will come in handy in the 90-something degree heat!

Nice, have fun unpacking!

As for the RFE, I am pretty sure you get e-mailed and your case status updates. I haven't received one yet, but I remember that being the case for my I-129F.

I think it's a good idea to call USCIS tomorrow! Hope they can tell you more. Good luck and keep us posted

Hello all,

Just wanted to update my situation. I called USCIS this morning, and they said that they aren't able to tell me whether I already have a biometrics appointment scheduled.

The person said the only thing they can see is that I had notices sent to me that were returned to USCIS as undeliverable, but not the content of those notices. Given the timelines posted here by everyone, I'm almost certain that we should have an appointment scheduled already, so if it really does take "30 days" for them to re-send those notices, I'm sure we'll miss our appointment (if we haven't already!).

Since I can't stand to just sit here and wait, we're going to drive to the local ASC and Infopass offices (fortunately only a 10-minute drive for both) this afternoon to see if we can get any information through them about what we can do. I hope ASC can "look us up in their computer" and find out when our biometrics appointment is.

Question: when you go to ASC for a biometrics appointment, do you need to show them the actual paper notice from USCIS saying when your appointment is? Or does ASC already have your appointment information in their computers?

Finally... Is it too late for us to be added to the May filers timeline that was posted a couple of posts back? At the rate we're going, we might be "worst case scenario," so it might be helpful for others with problems in the future.

Yes. And after the fingerprints and photo are taken, they will stamp the same biometrics notice and sign/date it and return it to you.

Well, we went to both ASC and Infopass today. ASC said they won't talk to us without a letter from USCIS or Infopass. Infopass said they won't talk to us without an appointment.

So... we made an appointment with Infopass early Tuesday morning. Hopefully, with a little bit of luck, they'll let us reschedule our Biometrics appointment even though we don't have the NOA from USCIS telling us when the appointment is supposed to be! Wish us luck. :)
