@Arazia: Hope you will get the transfer email today! What classes is your husband taking?

He's taking intermediate algebra (he needed a refresher course in math), and sociology. He got to talk about the differences between Holland and the U.S. in that class today, from what he tells me.

Good to hear Arazia.

I hope for more CSC transfers soon.

Sounds interesting! Also, going to college gives him the opportunity to make some new friends.

Hooray - lovely Infopass lady says I can just turn up for my biometrics at the date & time on my letter, only in Cincinnati instead of Columbus. She called down to the, uh, biometrics office (same building, a couple of floors below), and that's what they told her. She seemed very confused by the fact that I had one letter for the AOS & EAD appointments, as if that's unusual in some way... hmm.

Anyway, glad I'll have a five minute walk instead of a two hour drive to get to my biometrics appointment, and glad my husband doesn't have to take the afternoon off work unnecessarily to get me there! :)

...because I want to go to Brazil in December. But he says it's ok if we don't go - he doesn't want to spend unnecessary money. (Although it's not much compared to AOS).....

Bora Bora,

I know it is off the topic, but I am curious how much does it cost to go to Brasil from US major airports? Like NY JFK or LaGuardia.

I will make another cost-benefit analysis for myself

Thanks,

K.

K,

I meant to say that the AP is not that expensive - it's not as if it were $395 like the AOS.

As far as ticket prices to Brazil....depends where you go and where you live in the U.S. I think you could pay as low as $600 if you were leaving from Miami and going to Sao Paulo - and it was NOT high season.

The best I ever paid was @ $700 and that was Miami to Rio in March.

I've paid @ $900 too because my husband is from the north of Brazil, and although it be a large city - it's not the same as flying to Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.

To arch and cel,

I noticed from your timeline you got EA stamp upon entry in S.F., did you request for it? I asked because I thought it is only in JFK that one gets the stamp, and a friend who's leaving on July 14 is asking me if she can get one in S.F.

Thanks!

Well, for a big tough Scotsman - I think he was nervous about the Biometrics (actually any dealings with Immigration officials) - he came through unscathed - in about 15 minutes.

He said that the office in Boston was not at all what he expected, but he was impressed with how they handle the fingerprinting. He didn't even look at his photo when he accepted it. He was laughing at the fact that they ordered 10 prints of the photo - so much for all the sets that we sent in.

My baby got his DL today!!!

Since he had passed the 'signs' part yesterday he only needed to redo the 'rules' part.

He took that part of the test on the computer - in Spanish. (So he got his permit).

They allow you to take the road test right away.

So, he passed that part no problem - in English (I'm so proud).

His DL is valid for one year.

When he recevies his GC he can have the DL renewed for a longer time.

This is good news.

There were no problems w/ his NOA for AOS.

If you are not a citizen in FL, the DMV mails you your DL - which arrives in up to 30 days. So, my hubby has a paper which says he has his DL and is valid for those 30 days while he is waiting for his DL ID to come in the mail.

BTW, no touches since 5/31 :(

Yay, that's very good news - congrats to him!!

Congrats Bora Bora n hubby!!!

After reading your hubby's success in getting his DL with NOA in FL and reading featherB's post in a different thread about how she can get a stateID in Ohio with only her NOA, I went to the DMV this afternoon and got my Ohio driving license!!!

I actually had another state DL which was about to expire soon but I thought I can't renew it until I get either the EAD or the greencard, so I never bothered to get it renew. So I was so excited to get the new one today. Wohooo!!!

I was so nervous when I had to take the written exam. I didn't know that I'm suppose to take it so didn't study at all, but apparently if you have an out of state license you have to take the written exam again (Thank GOD no driving test!!!!). The DL's expiration date is in 2011.

@ Arazia I did not get a NOA for the transfer ( I did for my K-3 ) all I got was the email saying that my case is now pending at CSC. Glad hubby is doing good at school!

Sorry if I mis-phrased, but that is what I am waiting for. We haven't received the e-mail yet. After Buxton babe posted that they got their email yesterday, I've started checking mine more often today. Both of our applications were transferred on the same date. So... I'm hoping we get an e-mail sometime today or tomorrow.

Yes, I did get a Pending e-mail and touch yesterday (13th) and this afternoon(14th) we were touched again, but no change in status

Hello all.

We're a little worried over here and are looking for some advice.

We moved a couple of weeks after sending everything in to USCIS. We changed our address with USCIS and gave the USPS a forwarding address.

We knew something was wrong when we only received 1 Notice of Receipt out of 4.

We then got an email update from USCIS today indicating that status for the other 3 forms are "Notice returned as undeliverable." I called USCIS again today to ensure they have the correct mailing address (which they do), and they said they'd send out those I-797's.

Has anyone been through this before? Do we have anything to worry about, or should we do anything else now? One thing we're really worried about is that they tried to send us info about our biometrics appointment but we didn't get it due to the mail problems. Is there any way to find out if we've missed anything important?

Thanks in advance!

Daryl & Tira

2009: I-751 (Removal of permanent resident conditions)

9/19: Sent I-751 application & supporting materials.

9/21: Package delivered to USCIS.

9/22: Check cashed.

9/26: NOA1 received.

10/22: Biometrics appointment completed.

10/23: Application touched.

11/17: GC production ordered.

11/23: GC received.

One more thought:

How does one usually find out about the biometrics appointment? Would I see it in my online updates? Does the information come with the original Notice of Receipt (I-797)? Or does it usually come later in a separate letter?

It seems that a lot of people here get their biometrics appointments set up only a couple of weeks after Chicago receives everything, and since we haven't heard anything about ours, that's why we're so concerned.

Thanks again!

You receive the biometrics letter in the mail.

Do you have your name on your mailbox? Some people here on VJ didn't receive their NOAS, biometrics notices and such simply b/c their mailboxes didn't show their names.
