my husband is going to take his driver's license test today - wish him luck that they accept his expired I094 w/ our marriage certificate and NOA for AOS/EAD

For whatever it is worth, we got touched today! Three days after our initial touch, which was the day after our biometrics appointment.

The status message remains the same, and no email, so don't know if we are on our way to California or not... Hope so!

That's great, we got our first touch today too on the EAD. I thought that we would not get a touch until after the biometrics appointment, but the appointment isn't til monday.

Me I had a dream last night , I was still in my mom's house in Canada and Received an RFE that my EAD check wasnt cashed because it was canadian funds So I woke up confused but its all good now

Me I had a dream last night , I was still in my mom's house in Canada and Received an RFE that my EAD check wasnt cashed because it was canadian funds So I woke up confused but its all good now

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who has dreams about this stuff - I had a dream about our cheques being cashed, or not cashed, or for the wrong amounts, or something last week... I really must find more interesting subjects for my brain to occupy itself with when I'm asleep! (I've had tons of ridiculous dreams the whole way through this process, I'm sure I'm always dreaming about checking the online case status, and when my visa interview was coming up, I kept having dreams about not being allowed into the Embassy, or turning up without any of the required documents, etc etc etc. Oh dear!!! )

In the state of Florida you can get your DL with an expired I-94, as long as you have the NOA for AOS.

I also explained that the date on the I-94 was the date until which we had to get married. I showed our marriage license. The lady scanned everythhing - except the NOA for the EAD. She didn't care about that.

I did give her my husband's proof of biometrics - and she asked for his SS card.

Well, listen to that one: For the first 3-4 weeks or so I was dreaming that I was returning to canada BEFORE I got my green card with NO AP. So i my dream I was talking to my husband on the webcam, and suddenly saying, ####### have I done!!!! And then I was crying so much.....waking up crying as well!!! Then my husband told me it was all good and he would be crazy not to figure that out before dropping me at the airport if it was real!! lol Seriously Ive had that dream few times, but now Im glad it has stopped. It seemed so crazy, I would never do that!!!

I've had similar ones to that!! You won't believe how glad I am to know that these freakish anxiety dreams aren't something that only I have - I've woken up a few times in a similar state after, y'know, dreaming that I accidentally went online and cancelled the AOS or something (because yes, in my dreams, of course the USCIS site has a 'click here to cancel all your petitions' option ) or something equally ridiculous... I've woken up a few times thinking 'oh my god, what have I done?!?!?' and then being very relieved to realise I was, yet again, dreaming. The other night I dreamed that I was at my mum's house then suddenly realised 'OMG, what am I doing here, I don't have AP, nooooooooo!!'.... our poor brains must be more stressed by this (not really that complicated) process than we think!!

I scheduled an appt for my husband so he didn't have to wait. I was told I could make the appt for the driving test only after an hour and a half.

My husband didn't pass . He doesn't know English so they allowed a translator (our neighbor - I can't bc I'm his wife).

He passed the road signs but not the rules. I can't imagine taking an oral DL test - the written is bad enough. Also, my husband doesn't think that the translator was that efficient.

So....he's going to take it in Spanish (written). He's a bit nervous though because he speaks Portuguuese. He has to learn the language at the same time that he learns the test...

But he is very serious about passing the test - at least he only has to do half of it since he passed the road signs part. When he passes I'll let everyone know when it expires.

Sorry to hear your husband didn't pass. You would think they would have various translators for new immigrants and such.

I went this morning for my license. We showed up about fifteen minutes before they opened, so we were first to be seen which was a lot nicer than sitting forever for a number to be called. It was rather painless and took about a half an hour for her to get all of my paperwork together. She gave me a paper permit (that expires in a month) to use until my card comes in the mail. I'll let you all know when it expires when I get it.
