Looking at various people's timelines, I think the AOS process takes about the same amount of time for everyone no matter what visa they had when they entered the country . There are other factors that affect the AOS processing time such as the fbi namecheck. Also one local office might be busier than another and therefore it might take longer for people to have their interviews.

Sorry but I don't believe that. I have maybe 2 months making my own research on the timelines and I think that we are basically in one of 2 groups (obviously we will find some exceptions or other cases):

1) K Visas in AOS Process: CSC Transfer (no interview!) OR fast interview appointment (with no CSC transfer) Maybe your F1 Visa enter in this group like the H-1B.

2) Any other Visa (like B1/B2) in AOS Process: Normal Interview (based on time from biometrics) with no CSC Transfer

Maybe I'm wrong but is what I conclude from my research here. (Specially in the CSC Transfers Post)

Ooooh.... I got touches today! (on everything, in the last hour or so).

Maybe they issued your biometrics letter!? I wouldn't worry

I hope so... impressively quick, if so! :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

Aaaand... more touches (on everything) this morning - sometime in the last half hour the 'last updated' date changed from 06/05 to 06/06.... after only ever getting one touch (a few hours before approval) in three months on our I-129F, all this touching action is quite a novelty. Hooray for USCIS coffee spillages!

Hola! Our biometrics is scheduled for June 21. :)

I presume you're going to the Indy USCIS office? Remember to take $5 with you cos that's what they charge you for parking there! Rip-off!

Hilarious. Thanks for the heads up. I'm still deciding whether I should send Pigu (who will be newly licensed to drive at that point) up there on his own, or if I should take the afternoon off work and go with him. Probably the latter.

I wish all May filers extra special blessings!

I too filed in May on the 11th to be exact and now I'm getting a bit worried because I have yet to receive a NOA receipt and for some strange reason I lost my certified mail receipt so I can't even find out if my package was received or not...on top of that none of the 3 checks were cashed. I'll be sure to update this group if anything thing changes at anytime.

@gustahot: I totally respect your opinion, however, I still think that the AOS processing time depends on other factors than someone’s entry visa (the steps in the AOS process are basically the same for everyone; everyone has to do his/her biometrics, get through the fbi namecheck, and pass the interview (unless he/she gets transferred to CSC and concludes the AOS process without an interview). For example, take someone who came on an F1 or H1B visa; his fbi namecheck turns out to be a lengthy process and therefore his AOS processing time is longer than that of someone who entered the US on a K1 or B2 visa and “flew” through the namecheck process. In this case, it is not the entry visa that affects the time of the adjustment of status process, it is the fbi namecheck. Now imagine a different case scenario: someone is adjusting from K1 and faces a long wait before he is invited to his interview because his local office is backlogged (for now let’s assume, he didn’t get transferred to CSC), while someone else who is adjusting from F1, B2, H1B, or VWP is given an earlier interview appointment because his local office is less busy or better staffed. Again, it is not the entry visa that determines the length of the AOS process, it is the workload someone’s local office has to deal with. In this context, I would like to say a few words about cases being transferred to CSC (In other threads VJ members have discussed what groups of AOS applicants are more likely to be transferred than others) . Originally cases were transferred to CSC to reduce the workload of backlogged local immigration offices. Lately I have seen an increase in the number of cases that are transferred which will sooner or later result in a backlog at CSC. That being said, a transfer to CSC does not necessarily mean that you will get approved any faster. Go back to the second example that I gave you and replace local office by CSC and the outcome is the same. Add an RFE to the list of factors that can delay an AOS approval, and the AOS processing time is even longer….

Let me share an actual case with you. Some of you might have heard about Miranda & James’ “visajourney.” James entered the US on a K1 visa, their AOS application was transferred to CSC but now they are stuck in fbi namecheck, if their signature is up-to-date their AOS is 299 days old; this just shows how the fbi namecheck can add to the AOS processing time. While they are patiently waiting for the fbi namecheck to be completed, others who came to the US on a different kind of visa and submitted their applications after Miranda & James have long gotten approval notices.

This is a very interesting topic. Maybe we should post it in the general AOS forum. I’m sure we would get all kinds of responses.

No matter what visa you are adjusting from, I wish you all a speedy process :) Thank you if you are still reading!

I WANT TOUCHES TOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Nothing since June 1st.

Well, I just returned from my biometrics (LA, Fairfax and Pico)- very quick (not counting the 45 min wait), but really helpful staff. The biometrics technician even let me take my photo again because I didn't like the first version (not that the second was any better, but I didn't want to be overly picky - hey, I look better with a full smile!)

In my fingerprint scan my scores were in the 60s and 70s EXCEPT for my left ring finger, which came up 58 points and said "warning - match found", which I presume is a match on 'the system'. Having done a bit of research upon our return, it appears that you have to get above 24 points to be ok and that matches of one or more fingers are somewhat common and could mean an unclear print yada yada yada. Anyway, I don't have anything to hide but OBVIOUSLY my left ring finger does. What can I say, I've always found it polite and friendly, but I've never really trusted it (:-))

I see that some people have interviews already scheduled for July - good luck to all!!!!! May the force be with you (I know, that is geeky, but something about the biometrics seemed very star treky/sci-fi-ish).

On to more IMPORTANT matters - how do I know I've been touched???? Where can I check?

Have a good day all!

Congrats Cardamom with your biometrics! I like your scores, I had "poor minutia" and 58% average on all fingers..it took the guy doing my fingerprints several times to make sure I get a hit  , I have to know if my FBI name check is complete and marked passed/ok even before my interview date (if only USCIS will allow it at this point, if I get to, I'll tell you guys about it)..

Good luck with your case monitoring too!
