It's 5 months here too, it is hard not to wonder what is going on when much later filers have been approved already. I am not complaining or anything, just getting impatient!! <_<

BTW thanks for the congrats.

Another reason why I am a bit impatient is that on the USCIS website it says that they process applications in the order they receive them, mine was received ages ago.

They have been processing in order..... unfortunately the FBI does not have to make sure that USCIS closes all files in the order they have been received. You are probably stuck in name check. They do not send out updates with this information.

Congrats Karly too, hope all is well with the pregnancy.

Thanks, but unfortunately, we found out we lost the twins (both boys) September 18th (I was 14 weeks). The timing of the approval is a little weird seeing as it came about a week and a half after we found out, but I'm still very happy to be able to cross the border and be with family this year for Christmas.

So sorry to hear that Karly. (F)

I understand what you mean about the (non) relationship between the FBI name checks and the USCIS. So the processing dates don't have anything to do with that then, right?

Oh well :clock:

I don't know if my husband is stuck in a name check - does that happen at the NBC?

We were stuck in name check about 32 days. I had made an infopass, however 4 days before the infopass appointment we started to receive CRIS emails approving , welcoming and card producing. There is really nothing to do but wait. Check out the name check thread it will make you sad. There are people who have been waiting years. I do not know how to link it here.

Good Luck :)

Sorry about the news on the twins...

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

This is a BIG part of the AOS process. ALL immigrants hoping to obtain a green card MUST go through this process. No matter where/how you filed, or where your file is now. As narocks mentioned there is a lengthy post on this. Much like the monthly filers or transferred to CSC threads.

The USCIS submits your name to the FBI (this is in addition to the fingerprints) and they run your name through their computer files (using all your names/former names and aliases in various orders). Some come back quick. If your name, or variation causes a "hit" they must then research that further.....but this part happens manually, when agents have time and they must locate the paper files that contain this name (285 storage locations) and get it sent to their location. They then review this and after they have "cleared" you - they submit their findings to USCIS - who can then continue processing your file.

Some people have been waiting years for this to clear. There is no rhyme or reason, and if you are stuck, you are stuck. You can try to get Congressional help, etc. but the FBI, at this time, do not have to "perform" within any guidelines.

Google can be your friend, as well as the search function on VJ to help educate you on FBI namecheck

Hi, I just wanted to respond to Bora Bora's question from before - I made an infopass and tried to go on my husband's behalf and they basically laughed in my face and would not tell me anything. I brought a letter from him and that form about appointing a representative, but they told me that was only good if I was his lawyer. Just wanted to let you know so you don't waste a day like I did.

Good luck to all,

Christina

Thanks Christina. So it won't even work if he's on the phone? So I guess what we have to do is a 3-way call...which I can handle.

It would be nice to know if my husband IS caught in a name check...

I just wanted to drop a note and let folks know that I haven't been able to keep up with things lately, and I don't expect that to change soon. Life outside of immigration has eaten up my time. So... I guess it's time I ask that someone else take over and keep the list up to date.

I guess I'll probably see most people in this thread come two years from now or so when I'm back in the swing of things for removal of conditions.

Thanks again everyone for participating and good luck to everyone still waiting.
