I'm not sure if I am qualified to complain but here goes.

Last week, I went to my local SSA office and presented my EAD and passport. I was told that apparently my info was not in their system and they will have to check with some other agency (DHS, I assume).

This weekend I received a letter saying that SSA cannot issue me an number because their records show that I am a Permanent Resident and that I need to bring in my card. Well I have not recieved my Green Card as yet because it was only authorised on August 11th. SSA could not find my EAD card# in their system despite me going to their office again today. When one becomes a permanent resident your EAD card becomes invalid.(How am I supposed to know that!!) I guess that is why I never received a welcome notice with my EAD card.

Now as most other folks have done, we applied for both the I-485 and I-765, because we didn't know how long it would take to get a green card, and we wanted me to get a SSN and local driver's license without having to wait for an eternity for the I-485. Having said that, here I am again, in limbo, waiting for a tiny card to arrive in the post to say that I am an "actual" person legally residing in the US. It seems that we wasted money applying for the I-765, since it was approved but still couldn't use is to do anything.:angry:

I must love my husband to be dealing with all this.

Good luck to everyone!!!

I hope this bit of information is useful to someone.

We still haven't had an update since May. But the weirdest part is that my hubby's AOS has not been transferred, you know? I mean, it's still at the NBC - not CSC like most people.

I think I'll give USCIS some time before I call to ask. I know, unlike the EAD, there is not really an unofficial time that they say you should wait.

Bora,

My AOS is also still at NBC ........ no interview date / no transfer date yet neither. Still waiting for my EAD as well. Today marks day 91 for EAD :( and still waiting...............

Separated!!

Hey there gustashot! We replied in your thread as well. Sorry you didn't get word of approval from the interviewer but hang in there (difficult we know!) and don't lose hope. He also didn't say you were denied!

One question, did they give you a form for the I-751 Adjustment of Status reminder?

Hey there texas bunny! If your AOS was approved August 11th, you stand a good chance of getting your card within the next week (10 to 14 days seems to be the norm for getting the card in the mail after approval.) We received our EAD card August 6th so it was good for exactly 7 days before we received the green card (which was 12 days after we were approved August 1st.)

The EAD was insurance, not a waste of money! Hang in there!
