Not sure you have enough chocolate there!! Interested in a trade ?

Sure.  It is an easy recipe.  Take a box of cake mix with pudding, I use triple chocolate fudge or French vanilla, a stick and a half of butter (melted) and a third of a cup of evaporated milk, and mix into a dough.  Take half of the dough and press it into the bottom of a 9x13 cake pan well greased, and bake it for 6 minutes at 350F.  Take the hot cake out and drop chocolate chips (I like to use a mix of white and dark) on the hot cake, drool melted caramel over chips, and rake the rest of the dough over caramel.  Bake at 350F for 15 minutes.  I should note I melt the caramel in a double boiler with a half cup of evaporated milk, some vanilla and some dark chocolate powder.

Enjoy!

Ah I think that's what ruined mine, I let it sit for 15 hours in a a room, so no refrigerator involved.

You probably killed it because it ate too fast and ran out of food.  Unless you keep your house cold (65° or below), the fridge is needed to keep it slowed down.

But reading Dee’s method, I think I was rushing mine as well.  She has about 22 hours in hers, I don’t think I ever let it go for over 12.  Might have to make me a starter and play again!

I made a low-carb-friendly version of a classic quiche lorraine on Friday and it came out sinfully amazing. Honestly, I didn't even miss the crust. It's the Craig Claiborne recipe from the Times my mom was making back in the 70s and 80s (I think it's from the early 60s) and it's still the best: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1018126-quiche-lorraine

Here’s an easy dessert to make that keeps getting requested when I eat with friends:

Oreo pie

 1 bag Oreos, crushed
8oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter
1 cup powdered sugar
3 cups milk
2 sm boxes instant vanilla pudding
1/2 tsp vanilla
12 oz Cool Whip, thawed

Cream together cream cheese, butter & powered sugar & vanilla. In separate bowl mix milk & pudding chill until set. Fold in cool whip after pudding has set. Add cream cheese mixture to pudding, then layer with Oreos... Chill until ready to serve!  Works well in a deep bowl for layering the mix with cookies, and is pretty.  But doing thin layers in a 9 X 13 pan works too.

a hot dog

Two immigrants to the U.S., just off the boat, walked the streets of New York City.  They marveled at all that they beheld in their new country, and they discussed their lives to come.  "I have heard that Americans eat dogs," one said.  "Strange," said his friend, "but if we are to be Americans, we must do as the Americans do."

Just then, they came upon a hot-dog vendor on the corner.  "Two dogs, please!" the hungry immigrants said.  The vendor, only too happy to oblige, handed them two orders wrapped in aluminum foil.  The immigrants raced to a park bench, sat down, and eagerly began unwrapping their "dogs."

The first immigrant looked at his order and paused in shock.  After several seconds of stunned silence, he murmured to his friend, "What part did YOU get?"

10 pages is a lot to ask from us wayward keyboard warriors, but we shall try, Father TB.  (I’d like to add that 4 pages still on topic and no word fights may be getting very near a record, Si man...)

Does anyone here besides me make their own pasta?  I started doing this about 4 years ago, and MAN, what a difference it can make in a meal!  My noodles are simple, either cut from a sheet, or I use my hand-crank pasta machine to cut spaghetti or fettuccini shaped noodles.  But I can add spices to the dough such as fresh basil, garlic, etc.  Very tasty.

The first time I made up a batch, my wife hovered over me, and asked me a few time why I was “doing all that work” when I could just open a package from the store and cook it”.  After the first round came out of the pot, and she tasted a plain noodle, she was sold.  I think we ate the first two batches one strand at a time, with no sauce or anything on them.

Shrimp Alfredo is on the menu tomorrow...
