Burden of proof, as you put it, is on the crazy ex friend to show you are commiting fraud, not on you to show you arent.

Relax.

Tell your wife to relax.

Ignore this person.

I agree with others -- I think you are safe.

Keep any correspondence you have with the woman who is threatening you. If something happens verbally, consider following up with an email afterwards that says something like, "Jane, I was upset after speaking to you you at Gold's Gym yesterday, when you said that you intend to make sure my spouse and I will not be together." I don't think you'll need such evidence, but it could give you some peace of mind to know you have proof of her malicious intent.

We have all dealt with somewhat unstable and mean-spirited people before, and they tend to show their true colors very quickly. I think USCIS would be able to see this woman for what she is, if it ever gets that far (which I doubt it will).

I disagree with the part about writing her an email.   At this juncture it would be best to STAY FAR FAR AWAY from this woman and not poke the bees nest.  The crazy friend wants a reaction and for people to waste time on a lark.  (Look how much time everyone on this board is spending on it.) Sending an email like this to a potentially unstable person is just going to cause more grief and unnecessary drama.   In the end simply stating in an email that something was said or done after the fact, doesn't make it true.  The whole argument between wife and friend could be fiction for all USCIS knows or cares (they don't).  Point being the motive doesn't matter here, it's the substance of an accusation.  We all agree there is no substance.

Agree, I would definitely defriend her.

Thank you for all your responses. No she has nothing but empty threats, I was worried all it took was an empty lie to USCIS for them slow our process down.

Thank you all for putting my mind at ease
