Hi everyone,

I'm from the US and am working on filing the I-130 Petition for my husband, who is from Malaysia. We are filing from outside the US and mailed the petition to the Chicago Lockbox in January 2018.

The petition was returned with a rejection notice, saying that the mailing address was incomplete. Our Malaysian mailing address is pretty long and doesn't fit into the boxes provided in Part 2 Page 2 for mailing address. So we wrote the full address in Additional Information and in the "Street Name and Number" box on page 2 we instructed them to refer to the Additional Information page. We then filled in the parts of the address that do fit on page 2 following that (apartment number, City, Postal Code, and Country). We put N/A in the fields that don't apply to us (State, zip code, province). Should we have put N/A in all fields following the referral instructions or should we try to squeeze the address into the space provided?

Has anyone else had this kind of trouble with long foreign addresses that don't fit neatly into the space provided? Please let us know! Thanks!

Wow, this sucks. I have not experienced this. I'm thinking out loud here, maybe you could print the address on a sticky note in very small font which you could stick on this section. At the same time try to cram in as much as possible.....

But hopefully someone can give you a better solution which they know would work.

I think when filing i_130 petition,we needs to give a address in U.S,even when you are filing from outside.

They need to send you all notice by mail on your address in u.s.

Someone might give you better explanation.
