Today was finally our interview. We arrived about 40 minutes early and went upstairs and signed in. Truly we got called maybe 5-10 minutes after our appointment time. Our officer was extremely professional and clearly she has done this many many times. From the start she let us know the AC is out and thats why she keep the door open and the air quality is #######. Then we started.

Right before sitting she asked us to keep standing and do the oath. Then she asked for our passports and other orginial documents all done there. Then was biometrics. Then she went through verfiying the documents and making the updates needed. Here she asked each of us, our spouses parents names and spouse date of birth and place of birth. Then was all the yes/no questions and that was all that then to updated the i-485 and we were done there.

Next, since I am from Canada and have been to the USA many many times by air and land. She had to go through all my past trips to the USA, as well as how my work visa worked when I used that vs a visitor visa and so on. Then finally we got to the relationship stuff just asked us our story, how we met then how long dated, when met other friends/trips, we just kept saying things to give the timeline. Finally after all that she asked about the joint documents. I handed her the "Table of Contents" she laughed ohhh wow you really got it all prepared for me, my wife made a joke back. Then I opened our binder and started to show how the table of contents works, and went through each section starting with Taxes, Bank Accounts, Insurance, etc and giving a brief description on everything. Finally after taking it all and her saying "man not sure I can fit everything into your file and a couple more slight jokes", she said I wll need to photocopy your past APs and add it to the file, but "based on everything I see today, I will be recommending you for approval I will do a final check, but your marriage for sure is bonafided no issue there." She then took out the instructions for ROC, the I-751 and it says on it "if approved today 9/12, etc you need to file ROC by XY date". She came back from photocopying and informed us the AC is dead and now the building is being asked to close down, so unfortunately may not see "case approved" later today but she is there the next two days and look out for it.

I then asked about the stamp, since I have no damn AP and said could I come and get the stamp once I see approved online. She mentioned she does not recommend that these days, and only do it again in an emergency situation but if everything is good greencard will be 2-3 weeks in the mail.

As my wife says we were super lucky and gods grace that our interview was not cancelled but also appears have to wait a couple days for the official approval. No AC for sure in a federal building where we live would not be possible.

Thanks, yes very nice office in downtown indeed. Just re-read your experience very similar. Guess SD office focuses on certain things and overall seems they very well organzied for the whole process.

Hey! Have you heard anything back?

Hi to you and to everyone following my story. So i went into Johnston office and asked what the hell? And the answer was:

Because Boston office is so busy they transfer cases to Rhode Island however they do not transfer the files and they cannot conduct my interview without my file. They signed off on my letter again and told me to wait for a new date. Apparantly they cant cancel my date online because the main computer is not with them its in Boston and they cant do it. (Which means this will take forever)

P.s my friend was in the same situation and he is now waiting a 3rd month for a second date.

9/17, day 202: AoS (from F-1) interview at Buffalo, NY. Quick process, 5-10 mins, not much scrutiny. At the end, the officer said things looked good and they should be able to approve the case in the next couple days. Got email update from the DHS status site about card in production within half an hour.

9/19, day 204: Got email update about I-130 and I-485 approvals.

Best of luck to those still waiting!
