To all those who received their EAD combo cards and did not have SSN previously

Do we need to apply for an SSN or is the SSN application initiated automatically and we receive it in the mail

On the Form I-765 employment authorization document, there’s an option to check when applying if you want USCIS to contact SSA for your SSN if you don’t have it already. And if you didn’t check that box and you don’t have SSN, got the SSA with your new card, birth certificate and other important documents like I-94 and apply for SSN. Hope this helps

Update:  EAD arrived a week ago today, SSN arrived on Tuesday and now case has updated to say an interview has been scheduled.  Full steam ahead!  Feeling slightly overwhelmed!  I updated my resume and signed up to Indeed, applied for more than 10 jobs only to then discover my resume didn't transfer correctly!  Ahhh!  How is everyone else doing? :energy:.

Haha good luck with the job search! I am on the same boat. As soon as my ead was approved, I started sending out applications. I searched on Indeed, then look up the job on the company's website and applied directly to the company. Applied to 10 so far! Fingers crossed. I go to college but I have so much free time that I need to work!

Question for those who had EAD/AP approved recently. Was the card was delivered by USPS without needing signature or did you have to be physically present to sign off before receiving the card?

Mine did not need signature. It was just in the mailbox.

Hey,

It is a package you can go on Informed Delivery and choose how you want it delivered. Also depends how much your mailman knows you its up to them to verify if you get mail at said address.

Hmm.. I have been signed up for informed delivery for a while now and I have been getting USCIS mail delivered to my mailbox without any hassles, so far. I guess, i will wait for USPS to notify me of the day of arrival and plan on staying home, just in case.

Check the package tab.

It is would be...from

USCIS- LEES SUMMIT PRODUCTION FACILITY
LEES SUMMIT ,MO

Also you should get an update on when the tracking # becomes possible on case status.
