Did you select requesting a new SSN card on the 765 form? I'm the same with you and I chose yes. People said the new SSN card will be delivered after a few days you receive the combo card.

I already have an SSN from J1 i was here on couple of years ago

I have my SSN back from working in school, but since I changed my name after marriage, I chose "yes" to have a new SSN card directly sent to me. I think it saves some time if you don't want to take time to go to SSA in order to get name change! If you didn't ask for the updated SSN on 765 form, then you'll need to take all immigration and marriage documents to SSA and have the name updated...

I wish I had thought about it.. I don't think I did, Right now I'm looking at it and I left that part blank - didn't mark yes or no..

hello fellas! My EAD arrived this Tuesday (mailed on Mon) and the SSN will arrive today (mailed on Mon). My question is: I'm currently under H1b status with the approval i-797a and visa stamp under the maiden name. With the SSN updated to my married name, shall I go ahead and inform the HR name change? I'm worried that there's problem in amending my H1b documents but I do plan to use the h1b visa to re-enter the US coming September.

Hi guys,

Is anybody in this forum changing status from H1B ? I wonder if they take more time to issue an EAD for someone who is on a valid  H1B visa already ???

Hello, I am changing status from an H1B.  I received my EAD in less than two months.  Filed Feb. 16, 2018 and received EAD April 3, 2018.  Hope this helps.
