We included the employment letter in the original application. And an explanation that he didn't have tax returns for 2016.

I already obtained a joint sponsor and there should be no problem with supporting documents for that.

But I'm wondering what to submit with regards to my petitioner's tax docs that they're asking for.

In my case, I wrote a letter to explain every point they had in RFE, with all supporting documents (whether or not it's submitted before).  Maybe some officers just happened to be careless than others...

Yes , getting a joint sponsor would be your best bet. Does anyone know what are the stats on EAD time ?

I had my biometrics done , next step is EAD

Basically the Biometrics are sent to the FBI to do a background check and once it gets their approval they send them back to the USCIS. At this point i assume the USCIS toils (checks - reason why some people get their RFIE's 2 to 3 months after filing) once agin with the application to make sure every thing is complete in the applicants file. After this stage the "ready to be schdeuled for interview" is updated on the application tracker and between the actual interview somewhere in between EAD/AP combo card comes. Hope that answers the question

Hey everyone! Just received the RFIE in the mail. I guessed it correctly. They're asking for tax documents for 2017 (which we do not have yet), and assets or cosponsor as husband's income did not meet 125% (even though we included an employment verification letter stating that he makes above that amount).

2017 tax return will show his income as below 125%, as he only worked the last 4 months of that year since he was a student before that. So we are just going to get a joint sponsor.

If you get a joint sponsor, then explain in a letter that for affidavit of support you have a joint sponsor and his financial documents are to be considered for this purpose. However do explain in that letter since your spouse was a student/ Xyz and not in employment you have decided to have a joint sponsor to meet the federal requirement of affidavit of support.

And if the joint sponsor is married and files his taxes jointly with his/her spouse, then get the other spouse to fill form I-864a to avoid getting another RFIE

Is that true even if the other spouse does not have income? I'm gonna do some research.

If they filed MFJ, then the spouse needs to sign an i-864a because he/she is entitled to the family income.

Well my research concluded we should as a measure of precaution, and I have personally done so myself where my joint-sponsors spouse is a stay at home individual. Try avvo.com, it has a lot more info on specific questions on I-864/I-864A topics than VJ or imihelp. Here is a link to start with

https://www.***removed***/forum/showthread.php/208699-RFE-for-I-864-and-I-864A

Oops the link got edited automatically perhaps VJ doesn't allow.

Hey everyone! I just got the hard copy of NOA today. Couple of questions

1. I am still unable to view my status online.  I keep getting this error for all 6 of my receipt Numbers.

Validation Error(s)
You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

  • My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Is this normal?

2. I have a priority date listed on my I-485 NOA but there is not priority date listed on my spouse's I-485 NOA. Is that how it is supposed to be since my spouse is a derivative applicant?

If anyone has any information on the above 2 queries, please let me know

Did anyone experience this issue? I am still unable to view my case online. Should I call up the customer service to check with them or wait for a few more days?
