Our interview was on 3/11 and we got approved on the spot. The officer didn't really ask us any question regarding our relationship, he basically just reviewed whatever we submitted and asked if we have anything own jointly. My medical exam wasn't completed because the Dr. office didn't mark the result on the last page and it would be expired in 3 days from the interview day. Fortunately, they made it easy for us, they told me to bring the medical exam back to Dr. office to get it fixed and put back to a sealed envelope. We came back at 2:30pm and got approved!

My card is on the way as they just mailed it out today. Finally a long journey comes to an end.

INTERVIEW APPOINTMENT. Mar 14, 2019

CARD BEING PRODUCED. Mar 14, 2019

CARD DELIVERED. Mar 22, 2019

Sooo first of all our lawyer didn't went with us because He told us that it will be very expensive for us because he charge by hour and he had to drive to another State and our case was very simple, soo he recommended to us a local lawyer that was going to cost us $500 just to be in the interview with us. We had our preparation appointment with our lawyer and was kind of how we need to prepare our evidence and talk about how was the "interview experience" in general also he made the arrangements with the other lawyer and one week before our interview we had a phone call with her just to touch base and be in the same page... As you can see in my profile we had to travel to Minneapolis sooo for us was a little stressful travel with all our originals docs and hopping dont have our appointment canceled because the weather... we arrived the day before and stayed in a hotel in downtown to be close to the building even when we took a hotel taxi to get there... our appointment was at 8:45 am and we arrived around 8:15 or 8:20 and passed trough security and wait for our interview lawyer, she arrived around 8:25 or so and then we went to do the "check-in" we didn't have a minute after the check-in when they call us in... our offical was very fast and focus in his job nothing about chating or anything he started make us swear and checking the I-130 with my husband and almost all the question was for him (He forgot our weeding date... just that was black Friday 🤣) but I just said the date , He also asked my husband my birth date but he was looking at me soooo I started to answer that and he stop me because that was a question for my husband... after that he made a few questions of "NO" in the form I-485, asked about my last entry and also asked about the medicals, then when he finish with that ask about evidence and we got A LOT! I give all that to our lawyer and he asked what kind of evidence we had there and she started saying... house papers, will, taxes 2018, w2 2018, bills, bank statements (2 different banks), work letter of my husband, photos, correspondence of family, etc... he asked about the house and just wanted those papers (the house is in both names but the loan is just in my husband name), he didn't want see anything else, by that moment he printed 3 letters and said... Oh wait I need to see the medicals... checked the medical and added to our file that and the house papers and one of the letters... give us one to us and one to our lawyer and said that I was recommended for approval and explain a little about the 2 years GC and said your lawyer is going to explain that too... thats it have any questions? and we said no, and said ok, have a good day...

we leave the immigration office around 8:45 am and when we was in the lobby talking with our lawyer she was impressed about how fast and with an approval in the spot, she said that in MN office is very usual that they separated the couples in handle the letter saying that our case was going to be under review (thats why she was is shock, also she said that was her 3rd time that week going to an interview and our was sooo fast and easy) we also asked about why he didnt wanted anything and she said sometimes they already know if they are going to approve or not a case and you cant force them to see you evidence because then can start wanted seeing everything... but anyways we was just waiting for an uber when my husband got the update message that our card was being produced....

Thanks everyone and I wish the best result to all of you

FEB 2 - Arrived at Chicago location

FEB 15 - text from USCIS case was received

FEB 20 - I-797 AOS acceptance letter

                I-797 AOS processing letter

FEB 28 - Biometrics Appointment letter

MAR 5 - Biometrics Appointment

JULY 26 - RFE Letter

AUG 1 - RFE Response received

AUG 14 - Case ready to be scheduled for interview

Ever since, we have been getting emails like once a month saying they have not done anything with our case. So we have yet to have an interview scheduled! If anyone has any questions or needs help with their application or anything in the process, let me know! I would be happy to help! It can be intimidating, but I did everything myself WITHOUT a lawyer! You really don't have to waste the money. :) Good luck to all!!

Just Had my interview done today. I'm sorry, not a regular poster on here, but I thought I shared my timeline experience at the end.

Filled our case on 1st of March 2018

We had our Notice of Action 2 weeks after.

Had my work Authorization on 10th of October 2018

Case was ready to be scheduled for interview same Months after EAD was received.

Case was scheduled for interview on 15th Of March, 2019 at the Minneapolis of Office.

Interview date and time was 04/24/2019 @ 10:15 AM

We make sure we got there and checked in 20 minutes earlier to the appointed time. At exactly 10:15AM our number was called and an officer showed up at the door, but upon realizing we had our 3 months old baby with us, he came on rushing towards us with him giving us a sign to hold and he met with us right at where we were sitting. He said since you have a baby, i think it will be best to have you guys in one at a time while the other look after the baby. So he decided to go in with my wife first, and after about 15 to 20 mins, wife came out saying he is waiting by the door for me while she get our baby. So i grabbed all of the documents to meet with him by the door.

He walk me into his office while we have a brief friendly conversation.

Upon getting into his office, there is another man right behind him sitting with a computer but no communication was made with him... the office asked me to raise up my right hand and make a oath.

After that, he started asking questions about the documents i485 we submitted and he said is nothing serious but just to be sure if anything have changed, which obviously has with our new baby and moving in to a new address... everything went smooth with all questions and answers, even when he asked if I have ever worked without Work Authorization, I said yes as i really did for sometime after I dropped out of school. And he said well, that is forgiven, we just have to hear the truth from you, even though i said yes in my form.

After that, he asked about my relationship with my wife and how we met, where we had our first and second date, my wife date of birth... all which i gave the right answers. Asked me about my wife Family and siblings if she has any..  gave the answer as requested too, and asked of my family and siblings, I told him and he said we both have a very good relationship knowing much about each others family.

So he said he is approving the case at the spot, even though he's going to hand me a letter at the end which he said i shouldn't mind as it state in it that our case is going to be reviewed before final decision. He said it's just a normal protocol, and I should expect my card at our address in about 6 days or latest a week. He said again he was impressed the way we have our relationship going and he's happy for us. He walked me out of the office and told me "say the same thing to your wife that your case is approved". And he said best of Luck with your family.

And upon getting home to check my account, its already was updated to "Card is being produced"

And that's my Journey and experience on the Permanent residence process till date. Thanks to everyone on the forum, a lots of experience comes with you guys on here. Best wishes to everyone and people hoping for their dates too.

Hello everyone! It has been such a long time. I'm happy to announce that I've gotten my green card! It took a 1 year and 4 months for me in the Houston office.

We had our interview on May 2. Officer looked through our initial submission. I told him that my name was misspelled in my NOA, so he looked at my docs and made some changes on the computer. He asked for important evidence only, and said he did not need to see pictures. Gave him the sealed medical results, copies of our lease, insurance, husband's benefits and 401k showing me as beneficiary, joint car purchases, and tax return. He was very nice, didn't seem stern or super formal. He told us that they will have to look through it and we will hear back in about 4 weeks.

And 4 weeks it was! On June 3, I received notification that card is in production. Card arrived on June 7. BUT! The typo is still there.... So I filed an I90. More waiting! But before I filed that, I renewed my DL at the DPS so I can have a full term DL.

So excited, today my status changed to "My interview was scheduled" !!! I don't know when the interview is for yet, but I'm at the Seattle field office and that has a really long wait--even though we filed in Feb 2018, we estimated it could take as long as November for me to get an interview scheduled--so even knowing it has been scheduled is amazing. There is light at the end of the tunnel now! 😊 Annnnd now begins the process of preparing our interview evidence package. I've been saving things like mail and tickets and photos, so we should be okay in that department; we've known each other since 2008 and lived together since 2011, as I did my degree here in the states, which means we have a fair amount of evidence. Just need to go through it all! (I think it'll actually be kind of fun, we can do a lot of reminiscing. Our 3rd wedding ann will be on August 20, so this feels kind of perfect 😄).

Good luck to everyone still waiting! I'll be sure to update with my interview date & the experience, as I know it can be very helpful to other people still waiting to help estimate wait times/what to expect.

Congratulations! I am Seattle filer (September 2018) too. I have read that currently Seattle field office is moving their applications to other field offices, which helps their process faster. Seattle filers might receive a notice for an interview that comes from another field office. I will appreciate your updates 🙂

It is close to 180 days before my EAD/AP expiration..  Should I wait a bit my renewal application and see how the situation go?

I read that too, but our interview letter arrived today and it's for Seattle! Aug 28th (so about a month out from when it was scheduled). We are happy that we won't need to travel farther than that, it's already an hour and a half drive down to there. Also, it'll feel a little less scary to go somewhere we've been before, as that is where I had my biometrics done. 🙂

I applied for my renewal EAD/AP back at the end of April, and only received the receipts recently (about a week ago), so I'd recommend renewing as soon as you're at the 180-day mark. I don't think it hurts anything if you get approved for the GC first. Better to have that in the works just in case your interview takes longer to schedule still. The renewal receipt letter gives you an automatic 180 day extension to your EAD (not AP). Good thing I did mine early, my current EAD expires 08/09/2019 so I would have had to leave my job then if I hadn't filed early enough. Phew!

Good luck in getting your letter soon too! Fingers crossed for you.

I also just received the interview letter.

The only thing that worries me is that they listed the required document includes the petitioner's birth certificate. My petitioner wasn't born in the US, and he hasn't been back for decades. He hasn't even seen his birth certificate himself. It is unlikely he will be able to get this document. I don't get why USCIS care about petitioner's birth certificate if he/she has the US passport. Has anyone had similar experience?
