i got her yellow one

thats mostly what i can afford :(

There is nothing wrong with that - to me, it's the symbolism behind the ring, not the dollar amount that was spent on it. Besides, white gold may be the thing of the moment, but yellow gold is traditional ;)

I don't understand people who say "this one will do for now, but when he can afford it I want more carats!!".

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.

Our rings are silver. We got married kinda quickly, and on a budget with the promise to each other that we would "upgrade" to white gold (yellow gold just doesn't suit either one of us) when we got our act together a little bit better. 2 1/2 years later we still have our silver rings....I like em though.

yellow. white looks like silver to me and cheap. they dont call it gold because its silver in color do they?

 Thats what I think about white gold. Sorry no offense to anyone, but I would rather wear silver than white gold, or if I want quality I would get platinum instead of white gold. My small mind can't fathom white gold at all.

I have a three stone engagement ring with a sapphire center and flanking diamonds, and yellow gold. It may not be traditional, but there's nothing about this relationship that is, so it suits us very well :P

my rings are white gold and I don't think they look cheap...

I don't think its cheap per say, just when I think of gold, it has to be yellowish in color you know :P May be because in India you don't see white gold, you hardly ever see gold less than 22k, though personally I prefer 18k yellow gold because it is more sturdy compared to 22k.

White gold is really just yellow gold plated with rhodium which is close to platinum... it wears offf at a pace dictated by ones body chemistry... so it may start out white but may not stay that way... has to be replated over time.. platinum is a great metal... but not as easy to find someone to size a platinum ring...
