My fiancé just had his medical at Knightsbridge and I am furious. He was missing one tetanus shot and the nurse refused to give it to him and told him to go to his GP.

He was in the military and got out approximately a week ago so he does not have a GP.

I have no idea now if he can even get that vaccine in the UK and it will be valid for the AOS form.

Can anyone please help me?

Other than that, he said everyone was absolutely wonderful with the exception of the nurse who was rude and very short with him.

There are shots available at retail stores with clinics...maybe Boots, Tesco, etc.

More importantly, ask them to hold his file until he can get the shot record back to them so it will be recorded and signed off.

Odd that he would not be up to date as he was in the Military.

At least he will be able to park in those spots outside Home Depot.

As Wuozopo said, you can get the shot at retail stores like Boots. He may even be able to go to an NHS walk-in center, or register with a local GP to get it done. I know you said he doesn't technically have a GP due to being in the army, but is there any way he could go back to the GP he had before joining? They should have his records on file, and he'll be able to make an appointment for it there.

I know it's frustrating, and they definitely should have given him the choice to pay for it at Knightsbridge if he wanted it. But he'll be able to get it somewhere without too much trouble, so get him on the case of calling around and finding a solution fast, and then he can update Knightsbridge and get signed off.

I am in the same boat with my fiance being in the military (he just got out a month ago)...He got his vaccination records from the military, as well as any and all medical records they could find for him, and his mum had a number of his childhood vaccinations recorded.

He was able to get his tetanus vaccine at the Knightsbridge location, HOWEVER I think he will be able to get this here once he moves. The way I understand it, since the k-1 is a non-immigrant visa, he does not officially need all jabs until he is moved here and files for the AOS

You are correct. AND he will pay for the shot in the US and pay for a civil surgeon to sign off. Sometimes they want $300 and to do the whole medical exam over.

Get signed off by Knightsbridge folks.

That is really weird that they wouldn't give it to him; normally they want the money! Are you sure his last shot was long enough ago? (I'm assuming yes, but it's so weird I want to double-check...)

If it's possible to still get it signed off by Knightsbridge I would, as having to see a civil surgeon in the US can be a huge pain and expense. Boots, or even find a GP. The latter isn't necessarily impossible, although it might be that the expense of Boots is worth the ease and speed.

Unless your fiancé has asked Knightsbridge to hold off his results until he gets the Tetanus shot done elsewhere, there is not much that could be done at this point. If they have already sent his medical test results to the embassy then he will need to get the Tetanus vaccine in the US and will need to pay a civil surgeon, unfortunately.

For anyone else that is going through this process, I got my Tetanus, MMR and Influenza shots done today at a travel vaccine clinic. The prices were £25, £30 and £9.99 respectively. You also need the varicella vaccine for a K-1 however a history of having had chickenpox is sufficient grounds for exemption. As has been said already, it is MUCH quicker and easier to get it done through a private clinic rather than relying on the NHS or any GP, which in my experience were utterly useless.

UPDATE EVERYONE

My fiancé scheduled an appointment with a GP the following morning after his medical, they gave him the needed vaccine and they faxed it back to Knightsbridge and Knightsbridge said that they would update it and email him the updated copy.

i hope they do it soon, With the correct wording that he is completely OK to apply for adjustment of status and has completed all the necessary vaccines. Because that is the truth.

Thank you so much for everybody who took the time to read and give me your thoughts and ideas on this one.

I had my medical yesterday and was deficient of Tetanus records. They were really helpful and gave me the option to have it done there, to speak to my GP or to get it done in US. We ultimately decided that i would go back to my GP as I know I have had the Tetanus vaccination several times. The nurse advised me that as I am on the K1 visa, that as long as i have the information to hand when i do my change of status there will be no problems.

I contacted my GP last night who has requested my clerical papers to ensure all is recorded.

No problems except you will have to make another medical appointment in the US and pay an approved doctor to fill out an I-693 medical form.  The USCIS will not accept documentation from your GP, thus seeing a designated civil surgeon in the US who will often say you need a full medical exam to the tune of $250-$300...all because of one Tetanus shot.

A K1 with all shots recorded on their Knightsbridge medical forms can use that to meet the requirements of AOS without paying another doctor.

My GP got hold of my clerical records today and has faxed them to Knightsbridge who have advised me that it was never an issue anyway as they had signed off the vaccination form and that clerical proof from my GP would have sufficed when i apply for adjustment of status.

They signed off with incomplete shot records if they did it before receiving proof that you had a Tetanus shot in the last 10 years. Did you? Have you seen the records? Jan 2008 or later?

As stated several times. You WILL now have to see another designated doctor in the US (called Civil Surgeon) to sign off on a new medical form using the proof from your GP.  Getting signed off by Knightsbridge with ALL required shots listed could have saved you the hassle and couple hundred quid. Ask Knightsbridge to correct your form (if you did indeed have the Tetanus shot since 2008) before they send your results to the embassy. Ask them to email you the corrected DS-3025 immunization form including page 2 noting all shots for AOS are complete.

Thanks for your advice.

My clerical records have been faxed through to Knightsbridge and they are updating my DS-3025.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
