How to fill out form I-751?

Hi Folks,

 

As always I have an impeccable timing, a day or two before the 90 day period for filing the ROC my wife tells me we are done for. We tried to work it out but it is going to be final. Right now we are living in different states and lead completely separate lives.

Now how do i put that in the I-751? we have started the divorce process but have not yet received any  word from the officials that the divorce process has even started.

the fields in question: 10 - marital Status, 13 - date marriage ended, and the waiver or individual filing section.

 

I read through the forum and probably looked right past it - or am just to confused with all this to find the answer.

If you haven't finalized a divorced, you are legally married.

the problem with a divorce right around the renewal seems quite common, is there a guide for it or can we try to make one?

Basically, my understanding is that you file with a divorce waiver and then eventually when USCIS gets to you they will send an RFE for the final divorce decree.

So a receipt of the divorce petition should be enough to file it initially?
