Hi everyone,

I am very new to this site and I hope everybody is doing good with their paperwork.I have a few concerns about my case but i dont know who to call or what to do so i thought maybe you guys can give me some ideas about what i can do with my situation.I got married to my husband in Sept 2017 and we sent out papers on Feb 16th, 2018.They received our case on feb 20th and I had my fingerprint appointment on March 28th.However, it has been 148 days and I havent got any updates about my case on USCIS website. It still says that my ``fingerprint fee was received`` but I dont think this is normal.I mean why am i not getting any updates? They rejected my i-765 form and i had to re-send it and they received it on March 14th.I had another fingerprint appointment on April 11th for my EAD. It has been almost 5 months now since they received my i-765 and there is no EAD card either. It still says that `` case was received `` :(  I am a little freaked out as to why I am not getting any updates or mails.I am from Detroit, MI. I wanted to get an infopass appointment here in the field office but they are all booked right now and cannot give me any dates yet.If there is any other February 2018 filers that are in the same situation, please share your experience with me.It really sucks to not be able to work or drive as I dont have a work permit yet :(  2 of my friends who are also from detroit are getting their interviews next month and there are only 2 months  between them and me.I mean they sent their papers in december and i sent mine in february. We are all from detroit but I have no clue whats going on with my case. :|  please share your experiences or ideas with me...Thank you very much

Hiiii..... unfortunately some cases move faster while others take what feels like FOREVER. I also am in the same boat as you.  Don't worry. We will get something soon. The normal wait time right now is 4.5 to 6.5 months.  Unreal..... i can't believe there was a time when ppl would get their EADs after 2.5 months.  Hang in their. 😊

My mom's timeline:

02/28/2018 - USCIS recieved application

05/19/2018 - Biometrics

07/17/2018 - Case ready to be scheduled for interview

No update on Employment Authorization. Hoping it is straight to green card. Field Office is New York City.

If you filed a solid affidavit of financial support, they may just waive the interview. Most interviews for parents of US citizens are waived. My mother got her green card in the mail in less than 6 months from her priority date.

I-751 Joint Filing.

06-15-2021 - Case was updated to show fingerprints were taken.

05-26-2021 - Received NOA/extension letter. Notice date and postmarked 05-20-2021.

05-23-2021 - Received text message with Receipt #. YSC Potomac Center.

05-21-2021 - Checks cashed (processing on joint checking account)

05-07-2021 - I-751 received in Arizona.

Marriage-based AOS - Concurrent filing.

05-07-2019 - AOS Approved. Resident since date 05/07/2019.

05-06-2019 - AOS Interview

04-23-2018 - "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview"

03-16-2018 - Priority Date.

Actually I am not filing for her. My stepdad is. I just did the paperwork for them. They've been married for 7+ years, sent in sufficient evidence, imo. Do they waive marriage based interviews?

Oh gotcha. No, they won't issue a waiver. However, as long as they present their evidence - which should not be an issue- they will be just fine.

I haven't had the interview yet.  On my case tracker on the uscis website it states that my interview has been scheduled. But i guess i have to wait for the letter in the mail to get details about the interview date and location.  I'm assuming the interview will be in San Bernardino.

I am just a bit curious that, I see people come here with tourist visa and get married and get their GC. But most people here first applied K visa which takes almost a year and spent almost 1k dollars. It seems no point to apply for a K1 visa because you can use a tourist visa to get the GC quicker and cheaper.

What do you guys think ?

Their AOS is cheaper first off. I suggest you do more research.

You are saying their AOS is more money than ours ? I paid 1225$ for my AOS and I paid 1000$ approximately for my K visa. So it is over 2000$. I don’t know how much they paid for they AOS but obviously I spent a year waiting for my k visa..

For those who i130 and i485 its 1760. So cheaper as in the second installment is less money. Your cost ws 265 more for the consulate. So basically same cost uscis is not dinging you one way or another.

Next, you did things the correct way and most foolproof way no point to speculate on others. The assumption is no B1.B2 AOS applicant gets rejected or scunitized which is not correct based on questions we seen online. Historically k1s did not get interviewed now the administration has changed that a new policy change. In certain states a K1 can start their drivers license cause you have a valid i94 for 90days. K-1 visa applicants have stronger cases and historically faster AOS cases, yes some few b2 applicants have got early interviews recently.

As for the year you waited. Your spouse could have flown to your locale and marry on the spot and then file for cr1 right away. USCIS does not dectate the timing of your wedding. Majority of the tourist visa folks start their process after 5months anyways and have to prepare for more scrunity on their files. Again you did things the most fool proof way and are near done.

I was told that tourist visa applicants from some countries are heavily scrutinize by US .  Don't underestimate the US immigration . They are not stupid and they may have seen all sorts of ways people try to enter US.  Some of those applying for tourist visa to US want to enter US on the pretense that they are just visiting but plan on staying.    They check if you are a high risk of  you not returning to your country after end of your visit.  They may check if you have investments, family, job, etc.

Now with the Trump administration's tough policy on immigration, you don't want to be dishonest and risk of getting denied visa or your greencard being revoked if they find out you try to deceive them.  Honesty is the best policy.   Now they are even trying to de-naturalize naturalized US citizens and deny your application if they find errors on your application without giving you a chance to correct it.  It is a scare time for all those applying for immigrant and non-immigrant visas.
