Did it start working today? I've heard that sometimes it takes time for them to put you in the system but I'm not sure how long...

Still not working. I am working today so I think I may choose to set on hold and speak with a live and helpful person to alleviate my stress

Biometrics all done, appointment was at 9am and I was out by 9:15.

I was worried about bringing my phone because I know it states on the letter that they aren't permitted. I needed to bring mine because I needed to get public transport there and back and I had no idea where I was going without my phone. Anyway I got there and the security said you 'do you have a phone' I said yes and he just shook his head and said go put it in the car,  it states it on the letter. I told him I called a week ago and was told as long it was turned off and in my bag I was fine. He said OK let me just see your phone is off and then let me pass by.

Apart from that it was painless ☺

@Missabc Im glad it all went smoothly for you in the end!

It amazes me how a lot of these places can be so unorganised/uniformed. I've already experienced it a number of times. First of all the social security centre wrongly arguing with me about whether I was entitled to work or not (they assured me over and over that I can legally work in the US... SMH). Then the DMV telling me I couldn't get a license without a green card (essentially), despite their very own website saying I could use the NOA1 along with my visa/ I-94 as proof of legal presence.

Anyway, I do have some good news.... I got my hard copies for AP and AOS on Saturday... still waiting on the EAD though :) Not too worried because I got the 3 texts and emails.

Hope everyone is doing well and coping with the long wait. :star:

It is very frustrating! I tried to do my research about the phone thing but the answers were so varied some places let people sit there playing on phones but then other ones wouldn't let you enter with it. Ridiculous. If it's such a big deal they should put lockers in there so you can put your phone in for people like me who had to make their own way there without a car not knowing the area at all.

As far as DMV I think it depends on the State.  Here in Georgia my husband was able to get his license with I-94 and passport.  The only thing that the license expired the day the I-94 did (2/9/18).  The good thing here also for one time they can extend anyone's license for 4 months.  So they asked us to bring Biometrics notice.  We did this over the weekend and sure enough they extended it for 4 months.

Yea, it really does vary state to state. Thats good, I wish they did that here. We are going to go and talk to someone again. We are in a strange situation because as a military dependent I don't legally need to have an in state license even though my residence is here. But we don't know if that means I can continue using my UK license or if that only applies to other states licenses. When I first went to the DMV they offered me the same thing you describe. A license that would expire once my K1 expired. Pretty useless to me at the time unfortunately. Hopefully I will get the issue resolved somehow. Otherwise, more waiting.

Hopefully you can get it resolved.  But in any case you should be okay once you get work permit.  That should be enough to get your license.

We had the same experience last week at the NJ DMV. I called before we went there to make sure they would accept the documents we had for the license only to be told when we did get there, that we had to wait until he received his green card or the work permit. I called again today and they customer service rep confirmed with the 797 notice we are able to get the license after taking the written test. She advised we speak with a supervisor when we arrive again this weekend. Don't give up hope. Ill let you all know the outcome after the weekend.

Hey folks do we need to submit the original copy of the RFIE with requested documents or a photocopy when responding to it?

better to send the original one and just take a copy of the RFIE letter. What was the requested documents from you?

For us they require the recent pay stub and letter of employment.
