Not to discourage you, but you have no guarantee that you will have your GC within a couple months.

My daughter notice shows that her interview will be scheduled. It has been like this since April last year....still waiting.

I'm not planning on going until I am just about ready to pop, and before it's too risky to fly.

Just wanted to mention, in your planning for this, check with the airlines as many carriers have regulations about flying in the third trimester.

Yep, plus random complications do occur. I almost went into labor at 34 weeks but luckily had her at just over 37 weeks.

Your airline might ask for a doctors letter even if you aren’t up to the cut off date.

I'll have my greencard, which allows me to go in and out of the U.S as I please. (U.S is where I live and will live, just purely going to England to give birth so I can be with family and in familiar surroundings) I'm not planning on going until I am just about ready to pop, and before it's too risky to fly.

You should probably look into that. If you’ve emigrated from the UK and is no longer a resident, you’re not covered under NHS and will have to pay for medical care.

Can you afford the cost of giving birth privately in the U.K.? Might be cheaper to fly your family here to be with you here whilst you give birth.

You do realise you can no longer avail yourself of the NHS as you are no longer a U.K. resident, don't you?

Ditto to what others have said about the NHS. My old GP is too aware of my family to let me get away with pretending to live in the UK, lol.

Other than wanting to be with your family, do you have any particular worries about birthing in the US?

I solved the "familiar surroundings" problem by having three home births. ;-)

Do you know how we'd go about doing that? My husband is a U.S citizen.

I did the same thing, got my GC on Oct and my child was born on Nov in Mexico, the reason we did that way, was we had the insurance paid in Mexico, on Dec went to us embassy and applied for the Child CRBA, we received his passport in one week, just check the rules for CRBA because there are some requierements the us citizen need to comply

in the interview they asked why the child was born in Mexico, I explain my reasons and have no problems

I can't necessarily give birth at home as we are living in an apartment and everyone will hear everything haha. I guess it's just all scary financially as well as just wanting someone there, my husbands family live 1 hour away and I can't take my driving test until I get my GC.

If it’s scary financially then have you looked into the costs of a private birth in the U.K. and are they any better than your us health insurance costs?
