What documents to bring to N400 Interview under 3 year rule?

Hi,

I have my N400 interview coming up in a month and I want to prepare for it early on. Aside from what's listed in the interview letter, what else should I bring? Should I go overboard again like with the i-485 and i-765 process?? Are photos necessary? I wanted to see what those who have applied under the 3 year rule have brought to their citizenship interviews recently.

I was planning to bring the following:

  • marriage certificate
  • all joint tax transcripts since we have been married (from 2014)
  • dental health insurance with my husband as a dependent
  • vision insurance with my husband as dependent
  • joint leases for the past 4 years
  • electric and gas bills
  • a few joint bank, savings and credit card statements (maybe 1 per quarter)? - tbh, my husband and i don't really use our joint checking account that much. we have our own checking accounts as we both prefer to keep our finances separate - however we do have a joint credit card and savings account
  • 401k statement listing my husband as the beneficiary
  • all of our flight itineraries from vacations - is this necessary?
  • photos - again, is this necessary?

Is there anything else that i am missing? or that i should bring more of?

Thank you!

Skip the photos and itinerary. You should be fine, you already have way more than enough. Chances are your officer won’t even bother with all of them after seeing or getting a few of them. This is different from I-485 since time you just need a few evidence to show ongoing marriage. Most N 400 are pretty easy.

Greetings!

US Citizenship Interview experienced: (This interview experienced was long long time ago, so there must be changes, but I still wanted to share it to you).

I took all possible documents that I have, I guess I always treat anything like a lawyer when it comes to interviews etc. as I hated any delays. Anyways, while waiting inside the office, A lady came out and asked me to sign the US Citizenship certificate along with the photo that I sent earlier during application. Then a few minutes later, my name was called and I met the person who is about to interview me, after greetings etc., I was asked three questions, 1. Who is your current governor? 2. Who is your current mayor? 3. I was also asked If after my inter interview I considered myself as a US CItizen? Of course, the answer is NO until after Oathtaking. Anyways, The last part, I was simply asked to read a simple sentence " My friend is going to drive me to school today". I was out from that office in less than 15 minutes. I was not asked for any additional documents at all but, again I am always prepared. Three weeks later, I took the Oath taking ceremony, I felt like I was free from any additional documents to be kept regarding immigration.

@hellostranger57, I would say bring all the documents that you listed including the photos & itineraries.

When my wife had her interview, the officer took 2 of the photos that she had with her.

Although pics were taken when you did the biometrics you do not know if there are issues until the day of the interview.

Remember every interviewer is different, what one may not ask for - another one may ask for it. We on the forum can give advice as to what to bring or not to bring but at the end of the day we are not the one conducting the interview. Thus, it is better to be over prepared than under prepared.

How heavy can a few more pages be? Just bring them all.

Below is a summary of my wife's interview on page #106 of the May filers..
