Yes, I am skeptical about it, due to the lack of actual evidence.  There is no doubt that visa overstays (vis a vis airplane rides here) are on the rise in the past 10 years.  There IS doubt, at least in my mind (maybe I am the only one here in CEHST) that the number of illegals walking across has decreased all that much.  

 

Consider this... the population of Mexico alone has increased by 16 million in the past 10 years.  Do you think the conditions in Mexico today are such that everyone wants to stay there?  Or perhaps the opposite is true, that the increase in population, without much improvement in the infrastructure, actually makes it less desirable to remain there?  I know what I think. But you are free to believe whatever makes you feel better.  Just one of the privileges (freedoms) of living in such a great country.

If we accept that the numbers are static, overall, well they are not on CO, so which State has seen a significant reduction?

I have no answer for that.  I don’t track which states have how many illegals.  In fact, I doubt ANY state has an accurate count of illegals, actually.

    The strategy is to use the desert as a weapon and as a deterrent, so I don't know that humane options are given much consideration. Prolonged death and suffering is a more effective deterrent than shooting someone. Border patrol has been accused of chasing people into the desert rather than trying to apprehend them. I do think they know what they are doing here.
